12 January 2019, Singapore – As we enter 2019, no one better than the queen herself Taeyeon; as the first artiste to kickstart the K-Pop calendar in Singapore. This is also her last stop of her tour in this region “‘S… Taeyeon Concert in Singapore“.
It’s difficult to perform a full concert as a group, can you imagine how bad it is for one individual to fill the stage. Taeyeon did it almost flawlessly, covering almost every inch of the stage (with help from her dancers of course). She was her playful self throughout, interacting with fans; even joking with a fan wearing a mask of Kaonashi (no face spirit from “Spirited Away). “Isn’t it hot in there?” she questioned the fan playfully. At one stage she was even seen picking up confetti (shaped like flower petals) from the floor and throwing them.
Isn’t it hot in there? (referring to the mask the fan was wearing)
Taeyeon
“‘S… Taeyeon Concert in Singapore” showcased a couple of unreleased songs like “Here I Am”, “Love You Like Crazy”, and “Do You Love Me”. Piece them together, and it sounded like a hidden message to the SONES. “Something New” was also officially declared as a concert only song, as Taeyeon shared that she will not perform it on broadcast; since it sounds best with the band behind her.
In the future, I’ll only be performing Something New at concerts!
Taeyeon
Emotional ending to ‘S… Taeyeon Concert in Singapore
Her melodic voice filled every inch of the Singapore Expo hall, and her versatility was there for SONEs to see. From soothing ballads like “Gemini” to lively “Holiday”; there was essentially something that will suit your “ear-buds”. The concert got emotional towards the end, and Taeyeon paused a couple of times while performing to “Gravity” (as she was controlling her tears from falling). During “Fine”, the music was turned off momentarily to showcase Taeyeon’s voice; and only one word to describe it: goosebumps.
As per all K-Pop concerts, the show ended with an encore featuring “I”; which felt like we were left with a hinge of regret that it ended.
Today is such and emotional day, because it’s the last concert. I will like to look ahead, as what is the past will not come back; that is why I don’t like to look to the past.
Taeyeon
Time to look forward to more great songs from Taeyeon in 2019, and also to a better version of Taeyeon.
