Jjinggus (name for Onew‘s fans) couldn’t wait to meet Onew again at his 2024 ONEW FANMEETING <GUESS!> ASIA TOUR IN SINGAPORE after three months since he was last in town for the Star Awards 2024.
Onew appeared on stage decked in blue while singing his first song for the fanmeeting – “O (Circle)” from his first solo studio album ‘Circle’ released in 2023, followed by “Sign“.
As Onew was preparing for the fanmeeting, he shared that he could not wait to meet his Jjinggus very soon. He wanted to do something different as he had performed many stages before but would like to have more interactions with his fans instead. Onew revealed that the last he visited Singapore was in April for the Star Awards, and that was his first appearance after his hiatus. Even though it was not part of the plan, Singapore became the last stop of his fanmeeting tour and it wrapped up his entire fanmeeting tour. This felt really meaningful to him as he felt like he began his journey again in Singapore and ended off this tour also in Singapore.
The fanmeeting then moved on to the first segment for the evening – Guess Recent Picture. A series of photos were shared on screen and Onew took the audience through each photo, explaining and sharing some tidbits behind each photo.

The second segment was – Guess Favourite Song. Onew picked “As It Was” by Harry Styles and “Love Like Oxygen” by SHINee as his favourite song. He further delighted his fans by singing a short verse for each song. (We were so happy to hear Onew’s solo cover of SHINee’s “Love Like Oxygen”, covering the parts of all 5 members.)
Onew shared that the reason for him picking these 2 songs was because he wanted a song that fans could enjoy together (“As It Was“) and for “Love Like Oxygen“, it is SHINee’s title song for their first regular album and it is a very meaningful song to him personally. It carries a lot of great memories together with his fans.
The third segment titled – I’m A Painter is a segment where Onew is shown a photo of Singapore’s iconic scenery and he has 60 seconds to draw and recreate the photo as much as he could. He was first shown a photo of the Singapore Flyer and the second photo was of the Merlion at the Merlion Park (which after Onew has drawn it, he said that he was most satisfied with this drawing, amongst all the drawings he had done thus far in the tour). Two lucky fans were then chosen to bring home the drawings that “Picanew” drew, with his signature signed on it.

The other segment which we personally enjoyed the most was called Guess Who I Am. It is a segment that consists of 3 missions which requires physical activity. The first mission was a game between Onew and Zairo, his guitarist for the tour. They first had to guess the word that the emcee flashed in front of them in a split second and the second game was a tissue pulling challenge. Onew and Zairo were both holding on to either ends of a rather long strip of a toilet paper, and they had to pull it skilfully to see who gets the longer end of the toilet paper. Onew had so much fun playing with it and right before the fanmeeting ended, he reminded the audience to only play this game with the intention of using the toilet paper, and not just for the fun of it. (We are so certain he would bring this game back home and play it with his members!)

Second mission of the segment was for Onew to find out, amongst the 5 mics placed on stage, by singing Baby Shark, which mic has the right pitch. Other mics were set with pitch that were either flat, high pitch or low pitch. It was so cute seeing Onew running around on stage trying to find the mic with the right pitch and trying hard not to laugh at how weird he sounded when he chose the wrong mic.
Third mission of the segment was the dance challenge, for Onew to dance along to Armageddon (by aespa). He wasn’t confident in the challenge initially but after drawing cheers from the audience and requesting for him to try again one more time, he did it successfully with more confidence.

After having so much fun with the audience, Onew then introduced his newest song – “All Day“, which was released recently on 15 July 2024, where he rallied the audience to sing along with him to the chorus. After which, Onew came back for encore stage with an acoustic cover of “Dice“, the title song from his second mini album.
Once again, Onew expressed his gratitude for his Singapore Jjinggus and that he really had a lot of fun in Singapore. He promised to be back for something more and will do his best to bring his fans better songs. Before leaving the stage, Onew also teased that his new album would be coming out in September! Let us all wait for more amazing music from Onew!
