RISE & REALIZE In RIIZE’s First Fancon In Singapore

Gimme that beat! Kicking off the 2024 RIIZE FAN-CON TOUR ‘RIIZING DAY’ in Seoul in May, RIIZE made their stops around the world to places such as Tokyo, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Taipei and Manila. Singapore fans (affectionately known as BRIIZE) did not wait long for them to finally bring their tour to Singapore, as the group made their stop here last weekend for the very first time.

During the show, RIIZE promised to show off their multiple (read sexy, cool, cute) sides. They did not disappoint as their youth and vigour was proved in the 2.5-hour show with a non-stop mix of performances, singing as well as interactive games and segments.

The popularity of RIIZE in Singapore was undeniable as fans blew the roof off with their pouring excitement the moment the group took the stage with “Siren”. Known for their electrifying energy and power dance moves, RIIZE also delivered their other chart-topping hits, such as “Love 119”, “Talk Saxy”, “Boom Boom Bass” and “Get A Guitar”. Their dance moves were proven tough and impeccable, as member Wonbin even showed the true meaning of ‘dancing till you drop’ after the “Impossible” performance.

“Get up! (Sohee jokingly towards Wonbin) This is not your house.”

Their undeniable talent was also proven as they performed to their own renditions of One Direction’s “One Thing” and Jinu’s “Odd Imagination”. RIIZE is not all dance and performance, as they also showed off their vocals and melancholic side with their B-side songs, such as “Honestly” and “One Kiss”. It was also heartwarming and meaningful, as they chose to close the show with their debut song “Memories”.

Asides from enjoying the performances, BRIIZE were also offered the opportunity to take part in the show as they took the chance to ask the boys some of their burning questions. These questions were well-rewarded with aegyo performances (Sungchan to Eunseok), dance battles (Shotaro vs Eunseok) and a special duet of “Rewrite the Stars” by Anton and Sohee.

There was also non-stop fun and laughter during the show, especially in the game segment of “Everyone’s Odyssey”. RIIZE were split into two teams (Team Bros – Eunseok, Shotaro, Sungchan, Team Babies – Anton, Sohee, Wonbin), and had to roll the dice and complete different missions as displayed on the large board game. BRIIZE broke into laughter and awws as the boys re-enacted famous scenes from the popular K-dramas “Queen of Tears” and “Lovely Runner”. With Team Babies eventually losing the game segment, they subsequently selected their punishments for the upcoming Bangkok leg of the tour.

Although the tour already made multiple stops across the world, what made Singapore a special one was RIIZE showing off their Singlish prowess during the talk breaks (“swee la”, “steady”, “chop chop”). In the “Growing Diaries” segment, fans were also rewarded with a sexy version of “Boom Boom Bass” by Sungchan by the Merlion Park, as well as a sneak-peak of Shotaro’s abs proving the labour of his one-week exercise.

Despite their first fan-con tour, RIIZE showed no signs of awkwardness and unfamiliarity, but instead proved to us why the show was rewarding and worthy of our time. Fans were left wanting for more even when the boys greeted their farewells to all corners of the venue. As RIIZE continue on the other legs of their tour, we cannot help but look forward to watching them grow further in their career before returning back to Singapore in a larger venue again.
