Travel Down Memory Lane With Korea’s First Jukebox Musical Film “Life Is Beautiful”

Korea’s first jukebox musical film, “Life Is Beautiful”, is coming to the big screens in Singapore come 3 November. The movie tells the story of a wife (Yum Jung-ah) who makes an absurd request to find her first love for her last birthday present, and her husband (Ryu Seung-ryong) who reluctantly goes on the search down memory lane with her.

Showcasing the greatest hits from the 1970s to the 2000s, such as Shin Jung-hyun’s ‘Beauty’, Lee Mun-se’s ‘Early Morning Discount’, Lee Jeok’s ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, Yoo Yeol’s ‘After Parting’ and Toy’s ‘Passionate Goodbye’, “Life Is Beautiful” heralds the birth of Korea’s first jukebox musical film.

Along with Park Se-wan, Ong Seong-wu, Shim Dal-gi, Ha Hyun-sang, Kim Da-in, as well as veteran actors Park Young-kyu, Kim Hye-ok, Ko Chang-seok and Yeom Hye-ran, the perfect acting ensemble will give the audience a special time of laughter, tears and a chance to sing along together this year-end season.

Ryu Seung-ryong, the star of “Extreme Job”, “The Admiral: Roaring Currents”, “Miracle in Cell No. 7” and “Masquerade”, box office hits that scored over 10 million, and “Kingdom”, the original Netflix series which has captivated audiences of all generations, is set to mesmerize viewers as Jin-bong, the husband who goes on the search for his wife’s first love.

Actress Yum Jung-ah, who starred in consecutive hits such as “Sky Castle”, and movies “Intimate Strangers” and “Start-Up”, also received much acclaim in the entertainment TV show “Three Meals a Day – Mountain Village”. She’s back to present real- life couple chemistry with Ryu as Se-yeon who looks for her first love from her youth.

Meanwhile, the role of young Se-yeon is portrayed by actress Park Se-wan, who captivated audiences on TV with her solid acting skills and charms. The role of Jung-woo, the first love that everyone dreams of, is portrayed by Ong Seong-wu, a multi-talented entertainer who can sing and act in his first big-screen debut.

Also, Shim Dal-gi, who proved her phenomenal presence in the Netflix original series “The School Nurse Files” transforms into Hyung-jung, Se-yeon’s teenage best friend. The children of Jin-bong and Se-yeon are portrayed by Kim Da-in, who takes on her big screen debut with Ha Hyun-sang, the vocalist of ‘Hoppipolla’, the winning group of the TV show “Super Band”. Finally, irreplaceable actor Park Young-kyu, who is a strong character himself, and experienced veteran actress Kim Hye-ok, appear as parents of Jin-bong while Ko Chang-seok and Yeom Hye-ran, top scene stealers with active careers on the big screen and TV, fill the film more abundantly.

Synopsis

Se-yeon, who has devoted her entire life to her family as a mother and wife, suddenly learns she is gravely ill. Now determined to live for herself more than ever, Se-yeon leaves in search of her ‘first love’ from her high school. Though unhappy with his wife’s decision, Se-yeon’s stern husband, Jin-bong, goes along on her search to honor her earnest wishes. Through their journey together, Se-yeon and Jin-bong are reminded of the most glittering, beautiful moments of their lives.
