KAvenyou Beauty Carnival 2019 – Amidst the fast-paced and hectic lifestyle that people live in, gave rise to an increasing “You Only Live Once” (YOLO) mindset. People start to indulge in things and activities that we never thought was important; such as sipping that latte at a hipster café, enjoying that “insta-worthy” pancake, getting that all important Korean hairstyle donned by a Korean star, and having that gel nail that you have always desired.
We are familiar with having short breaks through a staycation at a nice fanciful hotel, but I am here to introduce you to something better; and here at KAvenyou we coined it as a “Beauty-cation”. This Beauty-cation will allow you and your “BFF” to reach a state of physical and spiritual climax (at least I hope so). We have seen and heard enough about how fanciful and insta-worthy, this joint at Orchard Central “Walking on sunshine” (WOS) is when it opened; but do you really know how to fully enjoy it? Let us show you how this should be done.
Make a reservation
Like all staycations, you will need to make your reservations. For the “Beauty-cation”, you make a reservation for your services. Give them a call, drop them an e-mail or simply do it online HERE.
Morning: Check-in and breakfast
Upon arrival, it is always important to make yourself comfortable. Confirm your appointments and of course secure your all-important free wi-fi. Start the day with a hearty breakfast at the café. WOS offers a daily breakfast buffet from 9am till 12pm at only $15 NETT!
That “Eggs in Hell” above reminds us of the black pork tomato stew from the Korean reality show “Coffee Friends”; featuring Son Ho-jun, Choi Ji-woo, Yang Se-jong, and idols like EXO’s Sehun and Kang Daniel. In fact, there are some uncanny resemblance in the setting of WOS and Coffee Friends, featuring that industrial theme and greenery contrast.
Noon: Hairstyling
After getting your spirits up with that hearty breakfast, time to head over to the salon to get a physical service. Whether it’s getting that in-trend Korean perm, do a volume rebonding, getting that 2019 hair colour of coral or similar shades of orange, or a simple haircut, the professional team at WOS will make sure you leave better looking than when you walked in.
Before getting straight into the service, feel free to request for personal slippers, treatment gown, or even a portable mobile charger; since you are likely going to be seated for some hours.
Not that we are recommending any stylist in particular, but we heard the Catherine is a beauty, Eugene is a heartthrob, and Keon’s hands has went through the hairs of GOT7, Day6 and Sunmi. Choosing a stylist is a very personal thing, as it is really the person whom you feel the most comfortable with and has the most rapport. So you are on your own for this. Afternoon: Nails, Art, and Tea
Once we are done with the hair, you will be spoiled for choice on what you will want to do. You can head back to the café and enjoy a cup of tea, with the highly recommended Souffle Pancake, get your nails done, participate in an art workshop doing brush calligraphy or painting that watercolour nebula (advance booking required).
Evening: Photoshoot, Instagram, and Happy Hour
The entire WOS is filled with instagram-worthy areas, for you to fill up your instagram-stories. Other then getting those instagram shots, we heard that there’s also an in-house “photo studio” to get beautiful shots of your mini makeover (do check if it’s still available). After all these are done, nothing beats ending the long day with a little “Happy Hour” with free flow beer! If this is not indulgence at it’s best, I am not sure what is.
We do hope you now know what exactly is the epitome of indulgence through a “Beauty-cation” with your BFF, or even couple sessions. When there is beer, coffee, wifi, and also a choice of barbers, the men will not be left behind as well.
