KAvenyou Beauty Carnival 2019 – There has been numerous write-ups and publications showcasing the goodness and benefits of green tea. Do we really know how to enjoy green tea and to appreciate the benefits that comes with it? We did a little “research” to explore the world of green tea, and how the Koreans and Japanese actually do it.
Delicious green tea
Scientifically, green tea is about 30 percent polyphenols by weight, including large amounts of a catechin called EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate). Catechins are natural antioxidants that help prevent cell damage and provide other benefits. This is also the reason why green tea has such powerful medicinal properties.
Considering the rich benefits of green tea, obviously we need to find ways to inhale it into our systems. That is why we humans use green tea and make them into all sorts of edible stuff.
Weight loss green tea
Korean idols are probably the experts in extreme weight lost, and this we have featured it before here. “f(x)” member Luna has gone through quite a significant weight loss, and it was revealed that her secret was none other than green tea! She shared that all she had every day, was a mixture of about 3 litres of water, green tea and lemon juice. With this detox diet, she was able to lose about 8kg in a week. The green tea helps to reduce your appetite and even helps your body to burn fat faster thanks to the catechin content.
However, we always advise against such extreme methods of diet (especially if you are anemic), but a mixture of healthier diet and drinking this “special Luna concoction” might be a better balance. Green tea on its own is known to be able to boost the metabolic rate in the short term, so it will make sense that it could help you lose weight. Several studies has also shown that green tea leads to decreases in body fat, especially in the abdominal area
You can watch the episode of Luna’s Alphabet below.
Travel green tea
Apart from physical goodness, the beauty of green tea plantations will definitely give your spirits a boost during travels. The greenery is also certainly beneficial to the recovery of your eyes, probably due to reading too much of KAvenyou’s great content.
One of the most famous places will be Boseong, with the Daehan Dawon Tea Plantation at the top of the list. Daehan Dawon produces high-quality green tea and is a popular tourist attraction year-round thanks to the vast rows of tea trees that line the hillside like a deep green carpet. It is also the venue where Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun filmed a breathtaking scene for drama “Legend of the Blue Sea”.
Korean skincare brand Innisfree has also been a major success with their green tea products, where their brand owner – Amorepacific Group have their very own green tea field on the island of Jeju. The Innisfree Jeju House has also become a must-visit attraction when people visit the island. Not only will you be able to enjoy the goodness of green tea, you will also get exposed to the natural scent of Jeju (orchid, tangerine, camellia, hallabong, Jeju cedar tree, Daphne blossom).
Beautiful skin green tea
Lastly, how would we possibly miss out the beauty goodness of green tea? If you were familiar with Korean skincare, you would have seen many products that use the miracle green tea as a base ingredient. You will not believe it if I were to explain how good green tea is, but if we were to quote Korea’s most famous beauty guru Pony?
With over a whopping 4 million subscribers on Youtube, you can be sure any tips from Pony are 100% legit. She swears by washing her face with green tea water, made by soaking bags of green tea in warm water. Green tea has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin that can help to reduce redness and puffiness. Pony recommends doing this twice a week for best results.
Why stop at washing your face with green tea water if it is that nutritious for the skin right? Our friends over at innisfree, has also got a whole range of green tea products, that you can use for every stage of your multi-step Korean skincare regime. With innisfree known to be big on natural ingredients and constantly doing their part for the environment, you can be sure to trust them on getting this right.
Innisfree revamped its Green Tea Line last year featuring an extensive range of moisturising products formulated with extracts from a new green tea ingredient known as the “Beauty Green Tea”. Grown and harvested in the Jeju Island, the “Beauty Green Tea” undergoes two rounds of extraction to obtain the optimum amount of active ingredients.
If you can only choose one product from the line, it should most definitely be the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, which is also their best selling product since its birth. The serum is very lightweight and should be easily absorbable by the skin, and feels almost like water when applied; which is almost certain to give your skin a hydration boost when needed.
