PRESS CONFERENCE FT. SANDARA PARK & HAVEN
Ahead of the WATERBOMB SINGAPORE 2024 festival happening on the 24 and 25 August 2024 at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, a press conference was held on the 6 May 2024 at Suntec City to unveil the first line-up of the festival. The public press conference, graced by honorables from Viu Scream Dates, Evergreen Group Holdings and UOB, also attracted many fans on a Monday afternoon as Sandara Park from popular K-Pop group 2NE1 was in attendance.
To celebrate the unveiling of the first line-up for WATERBOMB SINGAPORE 2024, local artiste HAVEN was invited to perform and share her thoughts on being part of the first ever festival in Singapore.
With it being her first time performing at WATERBOMB, Haven felt blessed and honoured to be invited to share the same stage with many K-Pop artistes, especially many that she grew up with. With her new album slated to release this year, she hopes fans can look forward to her new performance at WATERBOMB as well.
After HAVEN, the press conference moved on to Sandara’s section where the seasoned K-Pop artist performed her solo song ‘Festival’ and 2NE1’s mega hit ‘I Am The Best’ to the crazy cheers of the crowd. At the press conference, Sandara was also asked a series of questions pertaining to the WATERBOMB festival, her career as well as her personal journey.
WATERBOMB
Speaking from experience, Sandara, who performed at the WATERBOMB festival in Korea last year, quipped that the energy in the festival was totally different. Sandara found a different side of herself as she soaked in the hot and sexy atmosphere, enjoying herself thoroughly even if her eyeliner and make-up were all wet from the water. Without needing to worry about her make-up, Sandara shared that preparing for her performance just required her to get ready to have fun with the audience. Although finding it weird and fascinating (“not sure if it’s because of the water around”), she reminisced over her past performance where everyone just had fun. While speaking on stage, Sandara excitedly shared that she could not wait to go on the WATERBOMB stage in Singapore to enjoy the water guns.
CAREER
As Sandara made her debut of her solo career with ‘Festival’ in 2023, she was asked on how her solo image differed from that of 2NE1. She shared that the image of both are very different, with 2NE1 portraying a strong, charismatic image, while she hopes to show the sweet, soft, cute and wholesome side of herself through her solo career. Although both showed a very different side to Sandara, she expressed enjoying showing the different sides of her.
Being the first time performing a 2NE1 song on her own, Sandara was initially afraid of the reaction. However, when the music to “I Am The Best” started, she was surprised by the entire crowd singing along to it, which gave her the confidence to perform well.
“Being a member of 2NE1 has been the best thing that has ever happened in my life, forever. Being on stage with the other girls, they are really talented, wonderful, and I really enjoyed performing together with them for my fans.”

PERSONAL
The press conference moved on to asking Sandara about her experience returning to Singapore after 5 years. Having grown up in The Philippines, she thoroughly missed the weather, food and energy in Southeast Asia, even wittily expressing her love for Southeast Asia over South Korea (“oops!”). Being one of her most favourite countries in the world, Sandara was excited to be in Singapore, even sharing plans on having chilli crab right after the press conference.
As Sandara makes her return back to Singapore in August for the WATERBOMB festival, she teased that she’ll be preparing a whole new setlist with new arrangements and choreography specially planned for the upcoming festival. Sandara even teased on preparing a bikini outfit for her performance, inviting fans alike to do so in preparation for the heat and water.
“I think you don’t have to worry because there’s just this energy that makes you crazy so, just prepare your water guns – because if you are not going to shoot, someone else will shoot you instead.”
