International artist SORN is back with her new song “Reservations“! Collaborating with close friend I-DLE’s Minnie, the track blends personal storytelling with heartfelt vocals. Read on to learn more about the creative process behind the song and catch up with SORN on what it was like working with her bestie!
| Q: Hi SORN! How have you been since we last caught up in May 2024? |
| SORN: A lot has happened in the past year. I’ve been quietly writing my first album, and I’m really happy that the first single “Reservations” is finally out! |
| Q: Can you share a bit about the creative process behind “Reservations“? How did the song come to life? |
| SORN: Over the span of about a year, I wrote a lot of songs because I went through a complicated relationship that lasted over two years. I started keeping a diary to document everything I was feeling and decided to turn those diary entries into songs. “Reservations” is one of the first songs I wrote for the album–about how the other party wanted to take things slow, yet still planned vacations and made reservations… honestly the lyrics speak for itself. |
| Q: You’ve known Minnie for a long time. What was the most surprising or unexpected moment of creating a song together? |
| SORN: It was my first time vocal-directing another artist in the studio, and I was completely mesmerized by her soothing voice. I think we all know that Minnie has an incredible voice, but hearing her raw, unprocessed vocals in the studio with my own ears was a completely different experience. I still feel very blessed to have such a talented sister on my song. Being able to work with her myself has proven that Minnie really does add a little magic to any song she touches. |
| Q: Speaking of working with Minnie, close friends often have little jokes or playful habits. What do you and Minnie tease each other about the most? |
| SORN: Minnie and I talk a lot, especially since we don’t live in the same country anymore, and she always thinks I live such a fun and dramatic life. Every time we meet up, she’s always looking forward to hearing more “tea” from my personal life. |
| Q: You’re no stranger to Korea and Singapore! What are your go-to food recommendations for friends visiting each country? |
| SORN: For Singapore, I always recommend pepper crab with some mantou. I know people usually go for chili crab, but personally, pepper crab is more my style, and every time I introduce it to my overseas friends, it never fails to impress them. For Korean food, I would suggest 국물닭발 (spicy chicken feet in soup). I know chicken feet isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely my favorite. My suggestion is to get the chicken feet with bones, add some ramyeon noodles, and a little bit of cheese. |
| Q: Having performed at major events in Singapore like Waterbomb Festival, what can fans look forward to at your performance at the upcoming Mediacorp Let’s Celebrate 2026 Countdown Show? |
| SORN: I’m going to entertain my fans with dance songs to celebrate the end of the year together. I also have a special stage with another artist, which will be my first performance collaboration with a local artist, so I’m really excited about that! I hope my fans will come to the show and enjoy the party with us. |
| Q: You share so many sides of your life on YouTube, from making rugs and trying Ramadan fasting to giving fans a peek behind the scenes. What else can fans look forward to in 2026 besides your new album? |
| SORN: Next year, I plan to release as much music as possible. I also want to travel more, so my fans can definitely look forward to more travel vlogs. |
