A new crime drama, Gangnam B-Side, has made its way exclusively to Disney+.
Starring Ji Changwook as an outlaw pimp named Yoon Gilho and Jo Woojin as detective Kang Dongwoo who was outcasted for taking down his fellow colleagues on charges of corruption.
The drama started in a throwback scene where we saw how detective Kang Dongwoo exposed his fellow collagues’ corruption during a club raid for drugs. Fast-forward to current, Kim Jaehee aka Jenny (starred by BIBI) was in a club in Gangnam, drowsy on drugs while trying to keep herself sober as she frantically exits the club, not wanting to be spotted, to search for her friend – Junghwa. At the same time, guys from the club were also on the search for Jenny as if she had some dirt on them that must not be exposed to the world.
Kang Dongwoo has a suicial daughter who was builled in school, and claims Jaehee to be her best friend and pleaded with her father to look for Jaehee after she went missing since she left the club. Seeing how miserable his daughter is, Kang Dongwoo decides to take things in his own hands, getting help from his ex-colleague Kim Jangho, who have left the force after being caught for corruption (and is now selling girls and booze to make a living) to help look for Jaehee. There, he crossed paths with Yoon Gilho again.
Junghwa was eventually murdered by the same group of guys at the Gangnam club who were looking for Jenny. Yoon Gilho, furious after knowing that one of his top ace social escort girls was murdered, vows to kill the mastermind behind this murder.
In a fierce altercation between Yoon Gilho and the men from the club and landing himself heavily injured, Kang Dongwoo turns up and saved Yoon Gilho from the gang of thugs but was chased and stopped halfway by his fellow colleagues, under instructions of Ju Yun, a detective that Kang Dongwoo had exposed him for corruption. Turns out, Ju Yun is still a corrupted detective as he was shown trying to help the Gangnam club group to have Yoon Gilho arrested as he was caught on CCTV, placing Junghwa‘s dead body on the platform of a train station for somebody to discover it, after retrieving her body from the place that she was being murdered.
Desperately trying to protect Yoon Gilho so Kang Dongwoo could ask him about Jaehee’s whereabouts, he pointed his gun at his fellow colleagues after they draw their guns at him too. During this intense negotiation, Yoon Gilho saw the chance and jumped down into the river below the bridge. Upset that he had lost his tail on Yoon Gilho, Kang Dongwoo could only scream in fustration.
