Singapore BOICEs Promise to be in CNBLUE’s “Then, Now and Forever” With Their Return to Singapore After 7 Years

After a span of 7 years, second-gen rock band CNBLUE returned to Singapore for their “2024 CNBLUE LIVE ‘CNBLUENTITY’ IN SINGAPORE” on 27 April 2024, where the Singapore Indoor Stadium was packed with BOICEs who had been eagerly waiting for their return.

Opening with “I’m a Loner”, “LOVE” and “Intuition”, these classics already had the entire venue singing alongside loudly with the group.

Expressing how much they’ve missed Singapore and their BOICEs here, CNBLUE peppered their sentences with Singlish they have picked up, and also broke into a hilarious rendition of “LOVE”–changing the lyrics to include chilli crab.

“I really missed you guys! Today we will like to create a great memory with Singapore BOICEs that will last a long time.”

– Jungshin

The venue was lit up in colourful flashlights (one of the fan projects) during the acoustic performances of “Imagine” and “Love Light”, making it a really beautiful sight for the members.

CNBLUE brought up the dress code for their tour (which is blue) and requested for the venue lights to be turned on, so they could see their fans, who followed the dress code well. The members adhered to the dress code on their end as well, taking turns to show articles of clothing they wore that were blue.

For every stop of the concert tour, CNBLUE played rock, paper, scissors and the loser has to wear a moustache to perform the next song. Apparently, Jungshin always loses for this segment, so he asked fans to cheer him on. Jungshin, however, also lost for Singapore’s stop, prompting the other members to break out into laughter and ask why he is so bad in this game. Taking on the ‘punishment’, Jungshin performed “Love Cut” donning a moustache.

CNBLUE showed that they were indeed ‘young forever’ with their impressive stamina for their almost back-to-back rock stages and their constant shuffling between the main and extended stages such as for “99%” and “Lady”, with Yonghwa still belting high notes. Not forgetting our star drummer Minhyuk, who was joined by Jungshin during the ending for “Lady”.

For “Coffee Shop”, Yonghwa went down to the fans at the standing pens for an even closer up interaction with them. “Shall we take a time machine and go back to the old times?” Yonghwa asked fans to close their eyes as he sat in front of the keyboard, switching the atmosphere to a more chill one as the group performed “Time Capsule”, “Winter Again” and “Till Then”.

During “Cinderella”, Yonghwa teased the fans by pretending to lift up his top, which he actually did so once, much to the delight of BOICEs.

“You not tired yet hor?” Under Yonghwa’s cue, the seated audience got on their feet for the next few stages, starting with “In My Head”, “I’m Sorry”,“RADIO” and ending off with “Between Us”.

CNBLUE returned to the stage for their encore, asking fans to sing “Young Forever” with them forever and ever, even when they turn old. The crowd all sang along with Yonghwa returning to play the keyboard for another of CNBLUE’s beloved classics, “Can’t Stop”.

BOICEs followed along and gamely posed with CNBLUE’s ‘ai~ing’ pose for the phototaking session, and to commemorate Singapore’s stop, Yonghwa asked the fans to turn on their phones’ flashlights and do a wave across the venue.

The group also revealed that they have a new album in the works, which will be expected to be released this year.

“Thank you for being in our then, now and forever.”

Being known for their multiple encore stages (as long as you cheer loudly for them), CNBLUE returned to stage once more after “Then, Now and Forever”, with “Love Girl”, “You’re So Fine” before finally concluding the concert with “LOVE” once more.

The concert was definitely one to remember with the overflowing energetic atmosphere from both CNBLUE and BOICEs, with their hilarious ments peppered with Singlish phrases, and some lucky fans were also ‘rewarded’ with guitar picks that Yonghwa tossed into the crowd. Hopefully, it will not take 7 years again for Singapore BOICEs to go “LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, everybody chilli crab” with CNBLUE.
