Prepare to be swept off your feet as Star Awards 2024 (SA2024) unveils its hosts, performers and award presenters, plus a reimagined Walk of Fame and Backstage LIVE marathon!
Themed “Ignite | Inspire | Impact | Influence” (视界幻化 耀眼四方), SA2024 is set to take place at the Theatre at Mediacorp on 21 April 2024. In Singapore’s biggest celebration of content and talent in the local Chinese entertainment industry, veteran artistes Guo Liang and Dennis Chew will join forces as co-hosts. Known for their infectious energy and razor-sharp wit, the dynamic duo is set to ignite the evening’s festivities and keep audiences at the edge of their seats throughout the ceremony.
As excitement skyrockets, get ready to be captivated by K-pop idol Onew! Internationally renowned for his exceptional and main vocalist of iconic vocal prowess as the leader boy group SHINee, Onew has also proven his mettle in acting and hosting, earning praise for his roles across dramas and musicals. Last year, he released his album ‘Circle’ and held his concert ‘O-NEW-NOTE’ in South Korea, showcasing his talent and charisma as a solo artist. As he takes the stage at SA2024 in the dual roles of guest performer and award presenter, fans can expect to witness his magnetic stage presence and versatile artistry in full force.
Also stepping into the spotlight armed with an exceptional vocal range is Mandopop Rock Icon, Chao Chuan! Having soundtracked a generation with timeless anthems such as ‘I’m Not Good Looking, But I Am Gentle’ (我很丑可是我很温柔); ‘I Am A Little Bird’ (我是一只小小鸟) and I Finally Lost You (我终 于失去了你), Chao Chuan’s heartfelt tunes have resonated deeply with countless fans, and are now poised to leave SA2024 audiences spellbound.
Next in the stellar lineup of award presenters are “Queen of Drama” Charmaine Sheh and charismatic actor Chen Bo-lin. Both stars have left an indelible mark on the industry with multiple iconic roles, as Charmaine’s resurgence in the spotlight with TVB drama ‘Queen of News’ (新闻 女王) and Bo-lin’s memorable performance in Taiwanese drama ‘In Time With You’ (我可能不会爱你) having enchanted fans and critics alike. Joining them as presenters is a constellation of Singapore’s finest talent, including Boon Hui Lu, Felicia Chin, Jeanette Aw, Rebecca Lim, Xiang Yun, Xu Bin and Zoe Tay, adding to the extravaganza’s star-studded allure.
Walk of Fame
Beyond the live show, SA2024’s Walk of Fame is also set to dazzle audiences like never before! Hosted by Hazelle Teo, Herman Keh and Jeff Goh, the star-studded red carpet will now see the addition of electrifying live acts that promise non-stop entertainment.
All geared up to mesmerise audiences is singer-songwriter Nathan Hartono, whose unique blend of charisma and musical talent promises to delight. In a shift of energy, EDM Singer-Producer Jasmine Sokko will illuminate the stage, showcasing her distinct vocal quality with a series of chart-topping songs. Capping off this array of talent, hip-hop artist Tosh Rock and vocal powerhouse Desmond Ng are set to team up for a medley celebrating the year’s “Best Theme Song” nominees, each note a vivid reminder of the dramas’ impactful moments.
Backstage LIVE
The excitement doesn’t let up from there, as the fan-favourite Backstage LIVE programme has also been reimagined as a face-off between Team Outcasts– comprising Xixi Lim, Yan Wei Xiao Er and Rao Zi Jie – and Team SGAG, featuring Shawn Thia, Isabelle Quek and Queenie Lim. In this seven-hour challenge, each team will be tasked with completing various missions – even while some of them, SA2024 nominees themselves, walk the red carpet! As winners are crowned throughout the evening, fans can also look forward to an interactive treat as the two teams tailor winner interviews based off comments on the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel!
