Leading global sports brand, SKECHERS, unlocked a new milestone with the grand opening of its first and largest brand experience store in Southeast Asia, located at Jewel Changi Airport. Skechers brand ambassadors and NEXT members, Justin Huang Minghao and Huang Xinchun, also made a special appearance gracing the store opening on Thursday, 18 July 2019.
Joining in the celebration was the crowd of more than 2,500 shoppers and fans gathered outside the store, including those even watching from Levels 3 and 4 of Jewel, as all were excited to see Justin and Xinchun decked out in Skechers’ streetwear apparel and Jewel-exclusive sneakers. The two stars made a grand entrance during the fashion showcase’s finale to do a freestyle dance number and cool poses with the models.
The audience enjoyed a showcase of footwear from the D’Lites and Mark Nason series, as well as the collections exclusive only to the Jewel store – including the Skechers ENERGY, STAMINA and MONSTER series.
In particular, NEXT’s Xinchun donned the Skechers ENERGY – AFTER BURN (above) shoes, one of the Jewel-exclusive collections featuring a sporty athletic trainer look. One of the brand’s heritage models from 1999, the Skechers Energy was the true originator of the 90s chunky sneaker movement. Skechers will be launching limited-edition colourways to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its launch, expected to be available in Singapore by Oct-Dec 2019.
