New Balance is bringing back two iconic Y2K silhouettes – the 740 and the 1000. First introduced in the early 2000s, these cult-favourite models are making a comeback, blending bold, futuristic heritage with a modern twist.
And who better to bring them to life than Korean pop sensation IU?

Known for her effortless style and trend-setting influence, IU rocks the 740 and 1000 as her go-to sneakers for this season – perfect for a laid-back brunch date or a spontaneous city adventure.

To celebrate their comeback, New Balance is bringing a vintage-inspired newsstand pop-up to the entrance foyer of Paragon from 27 February to 3 March – where sneaker culture, editorial aesthetics and Y2K nostalgia collide.
Inspired by a quintessential turn-of-the-millennium ritual: flipping through the morning paper, shoppers can redeem a personalised newspaper, complete with their own photo printed in the paper’s centre spread – a collector’s keepsake made just for them. To redeem their complimentary customised newspaper, they can present their receipt for verification after purchasing the 740 or 1000 at Paragon or ION during the activation dates.
