Korean actor Ji Chang Wook is heading to our shores real soon! The heartthrob will be in town to grace the launch of the CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO in Singapore on 14 November 2019. This also marks Ji Chang-Wook’s first appearance in Singapore since his last visit in 2015.

For the first time in Southeast Asia, Cartier will be presenting the exclusive CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO in Singapore. Following the successful global launch of the Clash de Cartier collection in Paris earlier this year, the Maison will be recreating an experiential pop-up in November – allowing for guests to explore the collection in an unconventional and immersive space.

The activities at the CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO are part of an engaging journey to evoke experiences playing on the duality of the Clash de Cartier collection. These touchpoints serve to encourage guests to play on the expression of contradictions and explore their own “Clash” of attitudes. In addition, being located in Singapore, a city full of contrasts, CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO will also feature subtle local touches to some of the rooms.

Echoing the Paris launch, the pop-up will feature similar themes of literature, music and art, all in opposition. Creative works by Michel Gaubert and Thomas Lélu will also be showcased at the CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO, in a vibrant clash of cultures. Furthermore, the space is designed with the main aim for guests to discover the collection in an interactive manner from product inspiration animation to on-site product trying.

Upon starting their “Clash” journey, guests will answer a simple questionnaire to determine which room to start with – the BOOKSTORE or RECORD STORE.

The BOOKSTORE will contain books that were specifically curated to display contradictions in genres, content and themes. In this room, guests are able to do a simple personality test to determine their “Clash” alter ego personality, which will be translated into a personalised Haiku poem crafted by the Haiku poets stationed within the room. Each guest’s customised Haiku poem will be typed out by an old school typewriter and given to guests to take with them as a memento.

In the RECORD STORE, futuristic sound showers will be installed in the room, where guests will be able to listen to the Clash de Cartier playlist curated by leading French sound designer, Michel Gaubert. The playlist encapsulates the spirit of the Clash de Cartier collection by bringing together a unique clash of attitudes featuring music from different genres ranging from classical to rock. Guests are also able to scan the Spotify code and have the playlist appear in their own Spotify accounts.

Dedicated photo moments await at multiple touchpoints within the entire space, including a play on optical illusion, whereby guests can view things upside down. Also, guests can receive their portraits printed with specially created elements centering on key product codes of Clash de Cartier from gold to the word, “Clash”, designed by renowned French author and artist, Thomas Lélu.

The CAFÉ will be the main lounge area, where guests are able to rest and relax, and enjoy their complimentary “Clash” pastry and drink. Embracing the opposition of cultures in Singapore, where East meets West, one half of the CAFÉ will be modelled with local décor while the other half will come with contemporary European metallic design. Adding to the juxtaposition is a daily local DJ performance at the CAFÉ from 15 to 17 November, 6pm to 9pm.

Ji Chang Wook will be gracing the launch on 14 November before it opens to public. Although members of the public will not be able to enter the venue on that day itself, you can try to catch a glimpse of the actor when he’s expected to make an appearance from around 7pm onwards.

UPDATE (12 Nov): There will be a red carpet outside the venue, so do not miss your chance to catch Ji Chang Wook walking down the red carpet and posing for photo ops!

CLASH DE CARTIER STUDIO is open to public from 15 to 17 November 2019 at STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery (41 Robertson Quay, Singapore 238236). Pre-registration of an hourly session is available at clashdecartier.sg/register.
