Super Junior returned to the shores of Singapore for “Super Show 9: Road in Singapore” which happened on the afternoon of 3 September 2022.
Right before the concert started, the venue was painted in a sea of sapphire blue (and changing along to the music) as the lightsticks synced across the concert hall. Super Junior finally took the stage, beginning with ‘Burn The Floor’, before transiting into ‘The Crown’ with Eunhyuk’s solo dance break.
ELF were treated to songs from more recent albums such as ‘SUPER’, ‘Callin’, ‘House Party’, and of course, it would not be a proper Super Show without their classic hits like ‘Mr. Simple’, ‘Devil’, ‘BONAMANA’ and ‘SORRY SORRY’.
‘Believe’, which was not in the previous setlists for their Seoul and Bangkok stops, was included specially just for the Singapore concert.
It was nice to hear the familiar greetings again as Super Junior members greeted their fans in different languages during the ment, and one memorable takeaway from it would probably be chilli/ pepper crab—which the members, especially Leeteuk, kept gushing about since they could not travel to Singapore to enjoy the delicacy during the pandemic.
As their Manila leg of the concert had to be cancelled and rescheduled due to unfortunate circumstances, Eunhyuk personally addressed the fans and apologised for it, to which they all chanted in unison that it was alright.
A memorable scene etched in our minds will probably be the stage for ‘Callin’ ‘, with the members standing on the white floral staircase setup accompanied with a dreamy backdrop and each member shown on the big screen, and ending off beautifully with a confetti shower.
It was also such a delight during the VCR segment where Super Junior dressed up as musicians from the classical era, and appeared on stage in the same costumes to perform alternative renditions of ‘SPY’, ‘Rokkugo’ and ‘MAMACITA’ in a grand classical style.
ELF were also finally treated to the performance for title track ‘Mango’ from their latest album.
Before the concert came to an end, the Super Junior members also shared their heartfelt thoughts with the fans, which many longtime fans that grew up and matured along with Super Junior could definitely relate with.
