Korean heartthrob Choi Siwon returned to Singapore again on 5th August, this time not with his fellow Super Junior members, but instead along with renowned director Dante Lam, to promote their latest movie, To The Fore (破風) which opened in Singapore cinemas on 6th August.
Prior to the meet-the-fans session and gala premiere, the duo were in the ArtScience Museum in the afternoon for a press conference. Since his last Chinese movie, Siwon’s mandarin skills have greatly improved, to which he attributed his improved conversational skills to fellow cast members like Eddie Peng.
In preparation for the film which involved cycling up to 100km a day, the cast members had to undergo strenuous gym training sessions, accompanied with a healthy diet to bulk up. Speaking about his fellow cast members (Eddie in particular), Siwon excitedly commented that Eddie is really awesome and he likes him as a brother! Dante also revealed that although Siwon did not have a top-baring scene in the movie (only his back view was shown – aww!), if the film hits the box office, Siwon will go down to the beach and bare his upper half.
Later on in the evening, Siwon and Dante attended the meet-the-fans session at the Marina Bay Sands Skating Rink, where a lucky fan got to go up on stage and interact with her idol upclose. This was followed by the gala premiere stage event at Plaza Singapura, where the duo marked the official gala premiere of To The Fore in Singapore by popping champagne, with Siwon spraying champagne on the crowd right after.
With a production budget of approximately SGD$16 million, To The Fore is a sports movie set in the high-stakes world of competitive cycling, which is shot in numerous locations of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Mongolia and Italy. To The Fore is directed by renowned Hong Kong director Dante Lam (Unbeatable, The Viral Factor) and starring some of the hottest stars in Asia including Eddie Peng 彭于晏 (Rise Of The Legend, Unbeatable, Cold War), Siwon Choi 崔始源 (Dragon Blade, Helios), Shawn Dou 窦骁 (Under The Hawthorn Tree), Wang Luodan 王珞丹 (Rise Of The Legend), Carlos Chan 陈嘉乐, OuYang Na-Na 欧阳娜娜 (Beijing Love Story) and Andrew Lin 连凯 (The Heavenly Kings) .
The official movie theme song “Roll On” 《你·有没有过》, is sang none other by Singapore’s very own JJ Lin 林俊杰.
