DAY6 Goes <Forever Young> At Third World Tour In Singapore

WELCOME TO THE SHOW

It has been 5 years and 18 days, or more specifically, 1845 days since DAY6 last stepped foot in Singapore for their previous <Gravity> tour. As the quartet finally brought their third world tour <Forever Young> to Singapore on the 22 November 2024, the fans proved that it was worth every second of the wait as they quickly sold out the performance.

The <Forever Young> tour included 32 shows across 26 cities worldwide, with DAY6 bringing along with them their widely popular songs such as “Congratulations”, “Happy”, and “You Were Beautiful”, as well as songs from their latest album, <Band Aid>.

DAY6, consisting of Sungjin (guitarist), Young K (bass), Wonpil (keyboards, synthesizers) and Dowoon (drums), shot up to fame recently in 2022 after their performance of “Time of Our Life” was featured in popular show <Immortal Songs>. Their popularity became even more prominent as they went on to win multiple music shows, even winning their first Daesang at the 2024 Grand Performer Award just 5 days prior to the Singapore show. Without a doubt, DAY6’s sold out show at The Star Theatre in Singapore proved their large popularity right at our sunny island.

TIME OF OUR LIFE

As Young K described the <Forever Young> tour to be one that DAY6 has put everything they have at the moment (i.e., exciting, emotional, pride), they hope that fans will be able to feel their sincerity through their songs and performance. This was perfectly displayed in the show as DAY6 (and the audience) belted out to crowd-favourite songs such as “Time of Our Life”, “Congratulations”, “Zombie” and “You Were Beautiful”.

DAY6 also got the crowd hyped up to songs from their latest album, <Band Aid>, such as “Melt Down” and “She Smiled”. Despite being a recent album, DAY6 was impressed as their fans (more affectionately known as My Days) were able to sing along with them. True to the theme of <Band Aid>, DAY6 truly brought the fans comfort and healing not only through songs such as “Happy” and “Wish”, but also their timely advice to the crowd.

“Remember this moment, this feeling, and even if we step out of this performance hall, we will always be together.”

It was interesting to observe the effort DAY6 put into their performance atmosphere, such as the frequent sprays of confetti in between their song performances, the lighting as well as the animated backgrounds for the songs. Oddly contradicting was DAY6 ending their concert with an encore song of “Welcome to the Show” and with the members frequently hinting throughout the show, indicating a possible return to Singapore “as soon as possible”.

SAY WOW

It was nonetheless to say that DAY6’s performance was one of the highlights of the show, but what was more surprising was My Days also showcasing their impeccable vocals with the sing-along session in the middle of the show. With DAY6 members strumming their instruments, My Days sang along to their selected DAY6 songs – “Congratulations”, “I’m Serious”, “She Smiled”, and “Somehow”.

With most Korean concerts now preparing interesting ‘encore shows’ to keep the audience entertained, this was no difference for DAY6’s concert. My Days were entertained to a karaoke session with the members giving a brief introduction of the selected music before the song lyrics appeared on screen (even with romanization lyrics for those who do not understand the language!) The members were impressed (yes, again) that fans were able to song their songs perfectly in Korean.

As DAY6 were getting ready to take a group photo with the audience, they were surprised by a fan-made video that appeared on screen. DAY6 shared that they were almost brought to tears, as the fans poured their sincere wishes to them (and some of these wishes were especially local too!)

In their closing ment, DAY6 expressed their deepest gratitude for their fans, who have accompanied them through their youths, and being “on the same page”, hope to be able to continue together for a long time.

“I wish for everyone here to only experience happiness. Even on the worst days, even when there are ups and downs in our lives, with all of you here, we are eventually able to come to Singapore.”

– Wonpil, Young K

MY DAY

What made the concert even more memorable was the members’ fun speech and efforts in speaking Singlish to the fans. Young K shared that he had the opportunity to sightsee in Singapore the day before the show, visiting places such as Design Orchard and ION Orchard. They also feasted on the popular Singapore dishes such as Chilli and Pepper Crab and Cereal Prawns. Young K occasionally weaved in some Korean words in his speech, which he jokingly shared that he had slowly forgotten the English equivalent to the words. Wonpil also pointed out how “hyung” in Korean was translated to “bro” (more informal) in English and proceeded to cheekily call his other members out informally.

While Dowoon was encouraged by the translated to say the word “shiok” throughout the show, he was curious as to why the fans were not reacting to him, and only figured out when the translator pointed the correct pronunciation to him (which started another wave of “shiok” within the members).

During the ending speech, all the members expressed their gratitude to the Singapore fans for waiting for the past five years, as they returned to the exact same venue as before. With the new memories made, DAY6 ended the show wishing for their fans to stay healthy and happy, until the time they meet again (which they hope will not take as long as before).
