Meet Valentina Ploy: The Thai-Italian Songwriter Behind the Album “Warm”

Thai-Italian singer-songwriter Valentina Ploy is all about good vibes, honest lyrics, and making you feel something with every song. Fresh off her dreamy debut album “Warm” and a bucket-list moment opening for Coldplay, we caught up with Valentina to talk music, emotions, and what’s making her smile lately.

Q: Hi Valentina! Could you start by introducing yourself to our readers?
Valentina: Hello Sawasdeeka guys! I’m Valentina Ploy, a Thai-Italian artist-songwriter!
Q: Please share more about your debut independent album “Warm”. What was the most exciting part of preparing for it?
Valentina: I think I really enjoyed the whole process of it, from writing the first ideas and lines of songs to the finished product. I really enjoyed working with my producer Richard Craker on the album sounds, and also the mostly DIY videos with my team were so fun to make! I had the best time from start to finish, and it was so exciting to be able to set it free to share with everyone.
Q: Which is your favourite song you’ve ever worked on, and why?
Valentina: So hard to answer this question! I think I love working on all my babies hahah But if I had to pick one I’d say Blabliblu! It came out of the very first song-writing session I ever had in my life, and it was so fun and spontaneous, bringing a song I really love.
Q: When writing songs, which emotions do you find easiest to express and which are the most challenging?
Valentina: Weirdly I must say I find it harder to express happiness in songs, like it takes me a little more back and forth and overthinking when it comes to writing songs that are quite happy while when I make songs about gratitude, sadness or other intense emotions I find it more flowing and easier in a way cause naturally my songwriting started by being my personal therapy. I gravitate towards writing what I feel truly really and I mostly write when something has happened specifically. It’s equally true that I also naturally put a touch of positivity in all songs, though.

Q: We really enjoyed your album and our favorite track is “Cheers to Life”! Could you share something that has made you happy recently?
Valentina: Aw thank you!! So happy you love that one! There are so many small moments that make me happy, but recently it’s been the Warm Part 1 release party that we organised! So many people showed up and we sang all together, it was such a nice moment of celebration of life and music with fans and friends!
Q: You have had the opportunity to open for major acts such as Coldplay. How did those experiences influence your growth as an artist?
Valentina: The growth graph after that has been really steep up I would say! I will forever be so grateful to that experience and the people that made it happen, and to be able to observe such a big act like Coldplay closely for 2 days made me realise I really wanna do this forever. They and their team are amazing, and it felt so magical to be able to witness that and absorb as much as I could! Everything from preparing to finishing made me grow so much as an artist, and I had so many realisations in such a small amount of time.
Q: Since you speak several languages, do you plan to release songs in any of the other languages you know?
Valentina: Never say never! I try to mix more and more naturally nowadays when I write music, and I wish to keep doing that! But I also wouldn’t exclude a whole song in other languages!
Q: Outside of music, is there a personal goal you hope to achieve in 2025?
Valentina: I think I would love to really take time off at the end of the year after releasing everything and spend quality time with my family! 🙂
Q: If you could swap lives with any fictional character for a day, who would it be and why?
Valentina: The guy in the movie Bruce Almighty? That would be cool!
Q: Lastly, do you have a message you’d like to share with your fans in Singapore
Valentina: Just thank you so much for the support and for listening to my music! Hope to go there soon and have a show!
