Jukebox Musical Film “The Box”, Starring Chanyeol, to air in Singapore Cinemas April 2021

Fans of musical films and K-Pop will definitely be excited for this new Korean musical film, “The Box” which is coming to Singapore cinemas soon. Starring EXO’s Park Chanyeol, the movie will be airing in Singapore movie theatres on 1 April 2021 (no, this isn’t a joke!)

Synopsis

The jukebox musical film tells the story of Ji Hoon (Chanyeol), a talented musician that can only perform wearing a box over his head, and Min Soo (Jo Dal Hwan), a producer that values success before anything else. They set off on the road putting on busking stages and go through a miraculous journey.

Review

Having watched the film without reading any synopsis beforehand, we were pleasantly surprised that the movie was of a musical film genre, with Chanyeol performing songs of various genres, languages and with different instruments as well, highlighting his versatility and talent for people who do not know the singer well. Through the lenses of Ji Hoon and Min Soo, viewers also get to travel virtually around South Korea. Although the storyline is quite straightforward, the performance scenes definitely gave us the wow factor and left us impressed after watching it.

Besides the 18-track soundtrack for “The Box” – including covers of famous songs such as Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” and Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” – Chanyeol also participated in the writing of lyrics for “Break The Box”, of which the tune is really a catchy one that leaves us humming it even days after watching the film.

Korean musical film “The Box” starring Park Chanyeol airs in Singapore cinemas from 1 April 2021.
