JUNHEE, the charismatic leader and lead vocalist of A.C.E, is stepping into the spotlight with his long-awaited solo debut! His pre-release single “Supernova” arrived on August 14th, offering fans a powerful blend of retro charm and modern dance-pop energy. With captivating vocals and a fresh new sound, JUNHEE is ready to begin an exciting new chapter. In this exclusive interview, he shares more about the journey behind “Supernova”, his growth as an artist, and what fans can look forward to next!
| Q: Hi JUNHEE, it has been some time since we last met you during your previous visit to Singapore when we interviewed you as part of A.C.E. How have you been and what have you been up to recently? |
| JUNHEE: Yes, it really has been a while! I’ve been keeping myself incredibly busy. These days, I’ve been fully focused on preparing for my very first solo debut mini album, so my schedule has been packed. |
| Q: The release of “Supernova” marks your first solo chapter after years with A.C.E. Could you tell us more about the single and what the preparation process was like for you? |
| JUNHEE: “Supernova” is a disco dance-pop track that expresses the explosive emotions of love, something you can almost grasp, but not quite. The preparation process was incredibly fun, and I was fortunate to work with such professional staff. We worked intensely on every detail, from the recording to the concept, video storyline, and even the outfits. Now that so many people are enjoying and loving the song, I’m truly spending one of the happiest times of my life. |
| Q: Looking back on your journey from your years of training to your multi-faceted career in music, acting, and now leadership, what has helped you stay grounded? |
| JUNHEE: At the core, it has always been music. I truly can’t live without it. There was a time when things were so difficult that I tried to distance myself from music, but I couldn’t even last two days before I caught myself listening again. That’s how essential music is to me; it’s something I can never let go of, and I believe it’s what has carried me to where I am today. |
| Q: What are your ambitions and also the challenges you foresee as you navigate the next chapter as both an artist and the head of your own company? |
| JUNHEE: To be honest, I don’t have any grand ambitions at the moment. These days, I’m simply focused on finishing the tasks I have each day, and even that feels like a full load. Still, I believe that these daily efforts will eventually come together to create a meaningful future, so I’m doing my best. Work rarely goes exactly as planned, and I’ve been learning how to adapt flexibly and handle things as they come. Since my company is still small, one person often ends up doing the work of four or five people. That physical workload has been the toughest challenge lately. I really hope we’ll soon reach a point where we can grow the team and bring in more staff. |
| Q: Recently, you released covers of “Your Idol” and “Free” which received very positive responses online. Are there any future covers you are currently considering that fans can look forward to? |
| JUNHEE: Yes, of course. I can’t say exactly which songs yet, but I do plan to keep releasing cover videos in my own style on my official YouTube channel. Please look forward to them! |
| Q: What is one skill you have recently learned outside of music? |
| JUNHEE: I’ve become quite proficient at issuing tax invoices, haha! Since I started running my own company, I’ve been handling almost all of them myself, something I never imagined I’d be doing. It can be a bit tedious, but strangely, I actually find it kind of fun. |
| Q: Who would be your dream collaboration partner, both in Korea and internationally? |
| JUNHEE: I would love to collaborate with Lauv someday. There are so many incredible artists out there, but personally, I really love his music and sound. |
| Q: Do you have any plans to return to Singapore to perform? If you could come back, what would you like to do here? |
| JUNHEE: If I get the chance, I would definitely love to go. I’ve always felt a bit regretful that I haven’t been able to visit as many Asian countries as I would like. That’s why, through my solo activities, I truly hope to have the opportunity to meet fans in Singapore in person. Whether it’s a concert, a fan meeting, or any kind of fan event, as long as I can interact with my fans there, I would be so happy. |
