Jakarta – Preechaya “Ice” Pongthananikorn was here in Jakarta for “I Fine Thank You Love You” promotion. Preechaya “Ice”, with Mez Tharatorn — the director, met their fans and Indonesian medias on Friday (16/1) in F(x) Mall and in Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall the very next day. Taken place in The Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves, Ice and Mez had their first press conference in Jakarta.
“I Fine Thank You Love” you is a brand new Thai-romantic-comedy movie that makes much of that smoldering anxiety familiar to Thai students of English. The story is about Pleng (Preechaya “Ice”) who struggle to teach her rebellious English student Gym (Sunny Suwanmethanon).
The comedy says something about post-globalization Thailand with characters who struggle with English by either being shy and awkward or making exaggerated, comedic efforts. A lot of the laughs come from a self-deprecating look at how language affects class and status.
During the press conference, Ice said that the biggest challenge in playing Pleng character is to speak English fluently. She said that she learned a lot during the filming. The movie production took a whole year to complete, said Mez Tharatorn, and will be promoted in the whole Asian continent.
After the press conference in Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves F(x) mall, Ice and Mez, with all the fans went to Cinemaxx theatre to watch the movie. Before the movie screening, Ice and Mez also do the iconic dance from the movie, ABC dance. The whole theatre turn into laughter and excitement when ice dance funnily. The first day screening was closed with a photo session with all the audiences.
The very next day, we got a chance to do a private interview with Ice in Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall. She said that she was excited and happy with the fans’ enthusiasm in Jakarta. Most of the Indonesian fans knew her from her former movie, ATM. This is the summary of our short exclusive interview with Ice:
How do you feel about these whole event anda fans here in Indonesia?
I am very happy and thankful for all the fans who continue to support her since ATM
I noticed from your Instagram that you love to dance. Do you want to be a singer, dancer or girlband maybe?
It’s my hobby, so if I have a chance I will. To be a singer, I still got a lot to learn. But if I got the chance, yes I guess I will.
What’s your next project?
Now, I got a series that I’m working on.
In this movie, you took a lot of scenes in Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves. Do you have your favorite coffee?
Ow yes it’s Original Mocca Ice Blended. Caramel is good too actually.
