What could you do with a snap of your fingers? Well, definitely not change the music in a restaurant just to amuse your friends! “HI-FIVE” is a light-hearted action comedy that’s easy to watch and filled with familiar faces from Korean cinema and television.

The gist of the movie is five people who discover they have superhuman abilities after receiving organ transplants find each other and form a team quickly. But they’re not alone—a sixth recipient, a cult leader played by GOT7’s Jinyoung, wants all the powers for himself. Even as the villain, Jinyoung is so charismatic it’s hard to root against him, even as he plots world domination. The story skips over lengthy explanations or inner turmoil, with the simple plot moving at a steady pace.

One comedic highlight is the constant bickering between Ahn Jaehong and Yoo Ahin’s characters. Their petty back-and-forth adds energy to almost every scene. Fans of Reply 1988 will also enjoy seeing Ahn Jaehong and Ra Miran back on screen together.

The film has its funny moments, but not all of them are memorable. The most striking scenes often center on Jinyoung, especially his transformation from an aging cult leader into a younger, more powerful version of himself. The cult subplot, while visually interesting, runs a bit long and slows the movie’s pacing. Other characters, like Youngchun’s daughter, make a flashy entrance but fade into the background without much impact.

“HI-FIVE” ends with a classic “final boss” showdown and a feel-good resolution that ties everything up neatly. It may not be the genre-defying blockbuster some expected, but it is a feel-good movie and it does leave you wondering, if you could have any superpower, what would it be? Overall, “HI-FIVE” is a fun and easygoing film that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It may not stay with you for long, but while it lasts, it delivers a good mix of action, comedy, and heart. 10/10 for the handsome cult leader though!
