[REVIEW] Korean Drama “Grid” Episode 4 Recap: Relationships, Time Manipulation, A Young Sae-ha

If you’ve watched K-drama “Grid” until the latest episode thus far, you’ll probably have many questions about the characters, especially the Ghost (portrayed by Lee Si-young), Sae-byeok (Kim A-joong) and Eo-jin’s (Kim Moo-yul) relationship, which was finally revealed in episode 4.

Sae-byeok and Eo-jin used to be married whose marriage did not seem to have ended well, which explains the lingering tension between the pair. With Eo-jin seen deleting her phone number, we wonder if this implies the end of their relationship.

Given that Sae-byeok has been blocked from being involved in the case which has since been passed on to the Bureau, it is impressive that she still managed to uncover substantial amount of clues on her own, and along with Sae-ha’s (Seo Kang-jun) help, which he has been doing behind Sun-wool’s (Jang So-yeon) back.

Each time I see Sae-ha attempting to snoop on Sun-wool, I’ll hold my breath as it feels like he may get caught any time. However, in this episode, his colleague Jong-yi realised what he was doing and helped him out by pretending to stretch and kind of blocking her view, while allowing Sae-ha to have the chance to lip read her phone conversation. It’s also noteworthy that they covered for Eo-jin as well when he was away from the office briefly—and this makes us wonder if they harbour a common agenda against Sun-wool who seems to be hiding things from the trio and not telling them what their work is really all about.

We also see the Ghost’s special power in play as she used time manipulation to bring Ma-nok back into the secret subway station cell after he managed to escape from it, however, we still do not know what is the Ghost’s motive behind helping this murderer and yet confining him.

In this episode, Sun-wool was seen attempting to track down the boy whose father was killed by the Ghost years ago, where she found out that he was no longer alive. She also realised that he may actually still be around, but reported as dead as he did not respond to the draft notice for enlistment. My prediction is that Sun-wool will likely continue to track down the boy since there’s a chance that he is still alive, and it will definitely be interesting if she finds out that the boy is actually Sae-ha.

The cliffhanger ending of episode 4 definitely left chills down my spine, when the new caretaker at Sae-ha’s house was revealed to be none other than the Ghost. We just hope that nothing bad happened to his mother…
