Will You Eat Lab Grown Meat? – Disney+ Kdrama Blood Free

Disney+‘s latest kdrama series Blood Free started off with the scene where Yun Jayu (starring Han Hyojoo) is giving a presentation to her company – BF’s invited guests.

BF (which stands for Blood Free) is a company in this series that develops and is currently dominating the genetically engineered cultured meat market.

Seeing Han Hyojoo acting as the role of a CEO and giving her presentation, sure does feel different from her previous roles. In this series, we see her as a character that is dark and trusts no one.

Due to a certain incident that led Yun Jayu being injured and hospitalized, while looking through CCTV videos of the incident, Yun Jayu chanced upon Woo Chaewoon (starring Ju Jihoon). She was keen to hire him as her personal bodyguard as her current ones are all outsourced to security companies whom she was unable to screen individually. Through background checks, Yun Jayu found out that Woo Chaewoon had a stint at the Navel Intelligence Command previously before turning into a bodyguard for other companies. In the first 2 episodes, we do not know much about Woo Chaewoon either. He is depicted as a mysterious person, with occasional flash backs of his story in the military.

On the day of the press conference in annoucing new developing products, BF’s lab got hacked by a hacker organisation, CitizenX (suspected to be based in Russia), and needed to make payment in BitCoins for the hackers to unlock access to their system and server.

As Woo Chaewoon had experience with CitizenX during his stint in the military, he tried comparing screenshots of the attack messages from when he was in the military to what BF has received. He found out that the hacking done at BF was not from CitizenX as the messages lacked punctuations that was solely used by Russians. This would mean one thing – the hacking was done internally.

This left Yu Jayu suspecting her team mates whom she’s been working closely with. We see her deducing at the end of Episode 2 who could be the culprit.

Blood Free is now avaliable for streaming on Disney+
