Multi-talented singer-songwriter SHAUN is back with a new single “Easy” this spring and KAvenyou had the chance to catch up with SHAUN in an exclusive interview!
“Easy” is SHAUN’s first release of 2024 and the English pop song features SHAUN’s signature melody and easy to follow lyrics. Known for his smash hits like “Way Back Home” (2018), “Bad Habits/습관” (2019) and “Steal The Show” (2023), SHAUN shared that this time, “Easy” was a track that he worked on at a small song camp he had with his team at the end of 2023. With the help of good lyricists, the song was produced in a short period of time. The music video for “Easy” also includes a unique ‘iMessage’ to ‘FaceTime’ concept.

Q: How has your music style changed over the years?
A: The genre and elements in my music might have changed, but I feel that with the same voice and style of melody, you should be able to feel that this is by the artist you used to know. I’m trying to put my identity into all of my music no matter what the genre is and will continue to keep up with that in my future music.
Q: Please share with us more about your recent activities in Japan.
A: The first showcase in Tokyo was actually the first full band live set that I’ve done and many people came to celebrate that moment with me. That moment was a very special moment to me and it is only the start, we plan to perform like that in many countries other than Japan as well. I hope to visit Singapore to perform a 1.5-hour full live set in front of you soon.
Q: If you have unlimited time and money, what would you do?
A: Usually when I play games, I enjoy the games where I can build buildings or craft something inside the game. So if I were to live in real life with limitless time and money, similarly, I would go up a mountain, build a house and craft stuff.
Q: Fans have been loving your new song, any plans we can look forward to for the rest of the year?
A: I have a full Japanese EP coming out in April; there is one new original track in that and the other three are Japanese versions of my original tracks “Way Back Home,” “Terminal” and “Bad Habits”. I am looking for a good timing to release the good music and demos I have ready right now too. We are planning to do an Asia Tour this year; our team is working very hard to make that successful so we will be out there to meet everyone very soon.
