The cast of Korean drama Oh My Ghost, Cho Jung Seok and Park Bo Young visited Singapore on a whirlwind trip to promote the hit drama, which is currently airing on Starhub’s VV Drama. Prior to the public meet & greet event at West Mall on Friday evening, the main casts greeted the media and shared more about their latest drama at the media conference.
It was the duo’s first time in Singapore, and they did not hesitate to take the opportunity to try Singapore’s famous chilli crab during their first night here. Park Bo Young also hoped to try kaya toast before leaving Singapore. (which we hope she managed to!)
Talking about the drama, Cho Jung Seok feels that it was more fun to act with with Park Bo Young’s possessed character, as it felt more like a fast-paced ping-pong game. Park Bo Young thinks that she is quite similar to her character, Na Bong Sun when possessed, just that she is not as hyper.
As compared to other Korean dramas, the female protagonist in this drama is the more aggressive one. Although Oh My Ghost’s theme is dark and centers around the supernatural, but the plot and the dynamic characters have made the drama fun. Cho Jung Seok had a great time working with Shin Eun Kyung, who acted as his mother in the drama, and even the talisman underwear scene was done spontaneously! Park Bo Young revealed that she was scared of Im Ju Hwan, the ‘murderer oppa’ even after the filming had ended, even when he is smiling to her.
As it was also Park Bo Young’s first ever onscreen kiss, Cho Jung Seok felt pressured as he wanted it to look good on screen and he was even more nervous than her! However, the kiss scenes were done naturally and there was not many NGs.
One surprising fact many may not know is that for the scenes filmed in the kitchen did not use any doubles – meaning that the cast members practised a lot for the kitchen scenes, with the help of a professional chef that guided them along. Park Bo Young quipped brightly that she can even make pasta now!
Speaking about ghosts, Park Bo Young did not have any scary encounters yet, but Cho Jung Seok had an experience with one a few years ago, when he was doing the musical Grease. When he was napping backstage at a secluded corner, a cleaning lady came over and asked him to sleep somewhere instead as it was cold. However, when he relayed the story to the other musical cast members, they told him that there weren’t any cleaning ladies, only men! Later on, he found out that two cleaning ladies perished in a fire that broke out in the theatre in the past. Until now, Cho Jung Seok is not sure if the woman he saw was actually a ghost, but he thinks of it as a good memory where she was taking care of him.
