[INTERVIEW] Yang Yoseop Brings His Most Personal Story Yet to Singapore with 〈Fade In〉

The wait is almost over for Singapore fans as Yang Yoseop gears up for the 2026 Yang Yoseop Solo Concert 〈Fade In〉 in Singapore! Set for 11 July at The Theatre at Mediacorp, the concert marks the HIGHLIGHT vocalist’s first solo concert in the country and a highly anticipated stop on his Asia Tour. Fresh off the success of his latest mini album Unloved Echo, Yoseop is ready to share a concert experience built around music, memories, and stories that linger long after the night ends.

Described by Yoseop as his most personal concert to date, 〈Fade In〉 brings to the stage the spirit of Unloved Echo, a release that marked a new career milestone for the singer-songwriter. Known for his extraordinary vocal range and emotional storytelling, Yoseop continues to captivate audiences with music that resonates deeply with listeners across Asia. Ahead of his Singapore return, Yoseop sat down with us for an exclusive interview, where he opened up about his latest solo activities, the preparations behind 〈Fade In〉, and the music he hopes will stay with fans long after the concert ends.

Q: It’s been some time since your last visit to Singapore. What has been keeping you busy recently, especially with your latest solo activities?
Yang Yoseop: I’ve been incredibly busy preparing for my solo album since the second half of last year. Earlier this year, I had a brief run of music show promotions, traveled to London to shoot my photobook and solo concert posters, and spent a significant amount of time in the practice room preparing for the tour. It’s been a very packed schedule.
Q: When you found out you’d be coming back to Singapore for your solo concert, what was your first thought, and what are you most looking forward to this time?
Yang Yoseop: What I’m looking forward to the most… has to be the roar of the crowd. The energy and cheers that fans unleashing at the venue is always my greatest source of strength.
Q: What can fans look forward to at your upcoming solo concert in Singapore, and is there anything you are especially excited to present on stage?
Yang Yoseop: Since this is my first solo concert in Singapore, won’t every single stage be a completely new experience for the fans from start to finish? Even though we speak different languages, I’m practicing hard to make sure my emotions resonate fully with the audience, so I hope everyone listens to the album a lot before coming to the show!
Q: If you had to recommend one song from your latest EP “Unloved Echo” to someone listening to you for the first time, which would it be and why?
Yang Yoseop: I’d recommend ‘Shine’ (오늘만큼은), which is the final track on the album. It’s a song that I had an absolute blast jumping around to during this concert. It’s a high-energy track that can completely blow away any blue feelings, so it’s my top pick.

Q: Among all the songs in your solo and HIGHLIGHT/ BEAST discography, which one do you find the most challenging to perform live, and why?
Yang Yoseop: Definitely ‘Brain’! The lyrics are incredibly fast-paced, I have to sing the entire track solo from start to finish, and on top of that, the choreography is extremely intense… I realized it all over again during this concert tour, but it is a truly exhausting song to perform live. 🙂
Q: You’re known for your consistency in both music and personal discipline. How do you balance vocal practice, rehearsals, and fitness, and what keeps you going on days when motivation is low?
Yang Yoseop: I place a massive emphasis on routines. I truly believe that the hours spent practicing, working out, and meditating every single day stack up to build who I am today. Even on days when motivation is low, if I just lean into those built-in habits, my body starts moving, and that gives me the energy to keep going. If you’re struggling to start something or feeling stuck, I highly recommend building your own daily routine.
Q: What’s something you’ve been unexpectedly enjoying lately outside of music?
Yang Yoseop: As many fans already know, my daily life revolves heavily around running, meditation, and reading. Aside from that, I enjoy watching YouTube or Reels, and filming my own content for my personal channel,”서비웨이”! When it comes to running, I’m not really trying to break records—I just run because I genuinely enjoy keeping my body healthy.
