For the third year running, The Color Run™ is back on Singapore’s sunny shores and CIMB Bank, the leading ASEAN universal bank, once again plays host to the Singapore leg of The Color Run™ as presenting sponsor.
Dubbed the Happiest 5k on the Planet, the colorful race opens for registration on 15 June, 3pm and promises to thrill Singaporeans with a celebration of health, happiness and individuality over the weekend of 22 and 23 August 2015 – the same month that the nation celebrates its 50th birthday.
“The excitement and buzz around The Color Run™ over the past years have been phenomenal and we’re delighted to bring the run back to Singapore for the third consecutive time. This year will be especially momentous, and CIMB Bank Singapore can’t wait to color the nation with the runners as we celebrate Singapore’s 50 years of independence,” said Mak Lye Mun, Country Head of CIMB Group Singapore and Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Bank Singapore.
With 18,000 people expected to register, The Color Run™ presented by CIMB Bank in Singapore is the biggest installment of the series in Southeast Asia. Participants in Singapore will also be the first in this region to experience a dash of sparkle in the run this year. Upping the ante on the fun factor, the run will see participants being completely doused in colored glitter powder as they make their way through the “Shine” color zones and at the Finish Festival where they can party on into the night.
Including the races in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur this year, The Color Run™ presented by CIMB Bank would have attracted close to 120,000 color runners in Southeast Asia by the end of 2015.
“The past two events in Singapore have been such an overwhelming hit that we are beyond excited about bringing The Color Run™ back to this amazing city. We would like to extend our gratitude to CIMB Bank, whose invaluable support has made this event possible,” said Robbie Henchman, Senior Vice President, Head of IMG Asia Pacific.
Just as in previous years and in line with its goal of giving back to the community, $1 from every registration will go to the Coalition Against Bullying for Children and Youth (CABCY) this year. Founded in 2005, the CABCY is a voluntary organization that works to spread awareness about and combat the different forms of bullying.
Last year, the CABCY brought the issue of bullying into the public eye with its innovative and internationally reported “Share It to End It” campaign. The frequently in school. With each Facebook share, the video would become one millisecond shorter, eventually ending the bullying. Over 73,000 Facebook users shared the film. In keeping with this concept of sharing to end bullying, The Color Run™ presented by CIMB Bank is working with the CABCY to continue spreading awareness about the issue.
“Bullying, including cyber-bullying, in recent years is a pertinent problem in Singapore. Everyone deserves an equal opportunity to feel safe in school and online without being victimized or targeted socially, mentally, emotionally or physically. It is very heartening that The Color Run™ presented by CIMB Bank, a prominent event with a huge following will be working with us to raise greater awareness on the issue of bullying in our society,” said Esther Ng, President and Founder, CABCY.
The first 1,800 The Color Run™ tickets will be reserved for CIMB Bank retail customers. For this exclusive priority purchase, CIMB Bank Singapore customers are entitled to register for The Color Run™ a week prior to the public registration, from 8 June, 10.00am to 14 June, 11.59pm and also enjoy 10% discount off The Color Run™ registration fee using the pincode provided by CIMB Bank Singapore.
