As part of his 2016 World Tour, Asia’s top guitar virtuoso Sungha Jung will return to Singapore for his sixth headlining show on 28 May 2016. Ticket are currently on sale at SISTIC.

Sungha has long held an appreciation for Singapore music, and has helped increase exposure to Singapore music by arranging and performing hits by JJ Lin, Tanya Chua, Kit Chan and Stefanie Sun over the last 4 years. These songs are included in his set lists whenever he performs in Singapore.

In particular, his YouTube cover of Kit Chan’s Home is the most-viewed instrumental version, having been seen over 350,000 times worldwide.

2016 is a special year for Sungha. He will be releasing his sixth solo album; and is visiting Singapore for the sixth consecutive year. Fans at last year’s SG50 show fondly recall and appreciate Sungha’s touching gesture to celebrate our nation’s birthday as he carefully arranged and performed Kit Chan’s Home and Stefanie Sun’s We Will Get There.

For this upcoming concert, Sungha will be ably supported by Singapore’s very own guitar virtuoso, Neil Chan. Come expecting a strong showing of solo and duet guitar music featuring a carefully-chosen set list of originals and crowd favorites.

The Sungha Jung Guitar Competition, the largest fingerstyle guitar competition in Southeast Asia, will be back on 27 May 2016, 7pm at the Funan Digital Mall. The triennial competition previously took place in 2013 in Singapore, with the finals showcasing world class guitarists from Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. The competition’s purpose is to increase awareness and encourage participation in fingerstyle guitar.

Finalists of the competition have gained regional exposure and gone on to perform at events including the President’s Star Charity (Neil Chan, 1st runner up) and the International Fingerstyle Guitar Festival (Andy Ngew, 2nd runner up)

The competition’s panel of judges include Sungha Jung, Neil Chan and Sprout Entertainment Director Hong Mun. The competition winner will get the opportunity to open for Sungha Jung at his Singapore concert.

This year’s finals was publicized throughout Asia, and drew many accomplished contestants from overseas who flew down to compete in the preliminary rounds. The finals will represent the best guitarists from Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and China.
