Lollapalooza, one of the biggest festivals in the world, landed in Paris in 2017, at the Hippodrome Paris Longchamp.
Featuring some of the biggest artists as well as the new and upcoming stars of the music industry, the festival also aims at giving spotlight to charities and non-profit organisations (human rights, sustainable development…). This year, the festival created of tsunami of reactions when it announced the K-pop group Stray Kids as one of the main headliners of its 5th edition.
In Europe, and unlike what’s been going on for a while in the US, it’s still a remarkable event when a K-Pop group is physically attending a non-K-Pop event. Last year, CL attended the Main Square Festival. The fact that one year later, Stray Kids will headline Lollapalooza Paris with an “exclusive and integral concert” shows a huge leap towards the recognition of K-Pop as a major music genre. Some other big names for this festival include Rosalia, Kendrick Lamar or Lil Nas X, as well as reknowned french artists Damso, Niska or Aya Nakamura.
