Based on the massively popular web novel and webtoon, OMNISCIENT READER’S VIEWPOINT, the movie features an all-star cast including Ahn Hyoseop, Lee Minho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, NANA, Kwon Eun-seong and JISOO.
OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY tells the story of Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyoseop), an ordinary office worker and the only devoted reader of a little-known web novel titled THREE WAYS TO SURVIVE THE APOCALYPSE. Disappointed with the novel’s ending, he sends an angry message to its author — only to have the fictional apocalyptic world suddenly become reality. When the novel’s hero, Yu Jung-hyeok (played by Lee Minho), appears before him, Dok-ja must use his unique knowledge of the story to navigate the chaos and write a new ending — learning along the way what it truly means to be a protagonist.
The movie marks Ahn Hyoseop’s theatrical acting debut. Ahn has firmly established himself as a leading actor through starring roles in widely popular dramas both in Korea and overseas, including DOCTOR ROMANTIC 2 & 3, BUSINESS PROPOSAL, and LOVERS IN THE RED SKY. Recently, he showcased his remarkable presence by voicing the character Jinu in the global Netflix animated film KPOP DEMON HUNTERS. In OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY, he is set to leave another strong impression from his very first big-screen role, delivering a layered emotional performance and powerful immersion as Kim Dok-ja.
Lee Minho, a household name across Asia thanks to hit series such as BOYS OVER FLOWERS, THE HEIRS and THE LEGEND OF THE BLUE SEA, continues to impress global audiences after his polished performance in Apple TV+’s PACHINKO. His role as the powerful Yu Jung-hyeok promises to be one of his most unforgettable performances yet.
OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY is directed by Kim Byung-woo, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lee Jung-min. Produced by Won Dong-yeon of Realies Pictures, the studio behind the ALONG WITH THE GODS franchise, the film is set to be one of the biggest Korean blockbusters of the year.
The beloved story, based on OMNISCIENT READER’S VIEWPOINT created by duo singNsong, has garnered over 2.5 billion views worldwide across its web novel and web comic adaptations. The original web novel concluded in February 2020 and continues to expand its universe with an ongoing epilogue series since February 2023. The webtoon adaptation, published in 2020, is currently available in 10 languages, including English, Japanese, and French.
OMNISCIENT READER: THE PROPHECY is co-distributed by Purple Plan and Golden Village Pictures in Singapore and opens in Singapore cinemas on 31 July.
