14 January 2015, Singapore – Although she had played the role of an empress in her drama, Empress Ki, Ha Ji Won did not have any airs like an empress would. Rather, she had displayed her friendliness during the 2015 Ha Ji Won 1st Asia Tour in Singapore, held on 10th January 2015 at Singapore Conference Hall.
The entire fan meet had a very friendly atmosphere. In hope of narrowing the gap with her fans, she had specially improved on her English, and throughout the fan meet, she had made evident efforts to speak in English whenever she could.
Following a short video montage of her past characters, Ha Ji Won started the night with her rendition of ‘That Woman’, bringing the fans back in time to the Secret Garden days.
Although it has been four years since the drama, Secret Garden is still loved by many. Knowing that, she had specially revisited the shooting locations of the drama to refresh her memory of the drama, sharing with fans her experiences filming the drama. While talking about the difficulties she had faced due to her acrophobia and the many practices she had to go through for her wire scenes, she jokingly quipped, “I think I am the best wire actress in Korea!”
A special VCR by her co-stars, Hyun Bin (Secret Garden) and Lee Seung-gi (The King 2 Hearts) was then screened. She expressed her gratitude to them for making time to record this VCR despite their busy schedules, and said that she would treat the both of them to a meal when she returns to Korea. She also shared that she still keeps in touch with Hyun Bin via text messages, and that it was because of food that she became close to Lee Seung-gi.
During the game segment, Ha Ji Won had displayed sincere consideration towards her fans. Apart from her friendly interactions with every fan who went on stage, she had very patiently helped her fans when they appeared to have difficulties when playing the game. She was also very thoughtful in ensuring that the fans who were seated at the sides of the hall could clearly see what was happening on stage.
After sharing some fun tidbits about the filming of Empress Ki, Ha Ji Won got the crowd going and clapping along to her performance of a classic Chinese song familiar to all, ‘對面的男孩看過來’. She even got her managers to be her back dancer for this performance.
When talking about the food in Singapore, Ha Ji Won had excitedly squealed upon the mention of laksa. She then lamented that she was really worried that she wouldn’t have a chance to have laksa during this trip to Singapore, and even asked fans for recommendations of good laksa places.
The second last song of the night was ‘The Show’, which she had specially prepared for the Singapore audience. She retreated backstage and returned shortly after for an encore performance, bringing to her fans a tearful performance of her own song ‘Now in This Place’.
The fan meet ended with a high touch session for all ticket holders, and all the fans received a small gift which she had specially prepared.
