As the countdown to her comeback reaches just ten days, Gyubin, a leading 5th-generation female solo artist, has unveiled the commentary film for her first mini album “Flowering“. On February 15 at 6 PM (KST), Gyubin’s agency, Liveworks Company, officially released the “Flowering” commentary film through her official social media channels and YouTube, drawing an enthusiastic response from K-pop fans worldwide.
This film captures Gyubin’s transformation into a singer-songwriter, detailing her journey in creating “Flowering“, as well as insights into the title track “Like U 100“, offering fans a behind-the scenes look at her musical process. Gyubin began by introducing the album, stating: “My first album is called “Flowering“, which literally means “the moment of blooming.” I can hardly believe it, but while my debut last year marked my first steps as a singer, I truly feel like I’m entering a phase where I am now in full bloom with this album.”
Regarding “Like U 100“, for which she personally wrote the lyrics, Gyubin shared: “It’s a song that responds to a confession by saying, “I like you too.” The melody is lively and catchy, but I wanted to focus on conveying genuine and honest emotions about love in the lyrics.”
Gyubin also shared an amusing anecdote about the title: “At some point, someone suggested changing “Like You Back” to “Like U 100“, since “Back” sounds like “100” in Korean. I thought it was such a creative and unique idea. Plus, “100” is a complete number and can be interpreted in various ways, so I decided to incorporate it into both the title and the final lyric of the song.”
Ending on a lighthearted note, she added: “I hope this album helps more people around the world learn that “One Hundred” is pronounced “Baek” in Korean!”
As the film wrapped up, Gyubin surprised fans by sharing a preview of the highlight melody of “Like U 100” along with behind-the-scenes footage from the production process.
Following the release of the title track commentary film, Gyubin is set to unveil additional commentary films for the remaining tracks on “Flowering” in the coming days. Meanwhile, with a variety of teaser content being released, Gyubin is making strides toward her highly anticipated comeback.
Her first mini album “Flowering” will be officially released on February 26 at 12 PM (KST) on major online streaming platforms and in physical formats.
