Korean singer and rapper B.I is back in town for the Singapore stop of his highly anticipated 2024 ’HYPE UP’ tour! The two and a half hour show included songs from B.I’s latest album as well as fan benefits like Soundcheck, Group photo, Hi-Touch sessions for some fans.
Fans of B.I (also called ID) filled Capitol Theatre on a Friday evening, many bringing their ‘BINBONG’, their official B.I lightstick famously compared to the memory orbs by Riley’s imaginary friend, Bing Bong in the 2015 Disney-Pixar animated film, Inside Out.
Kim Han-bin, also known as B.I started his solo career in 2021 after leaving iKON. He went on to gain public recognition with global hit songs like “BTBT” and “Illa Illa”. 2024 looks to be a great year for IDs, as other than being on tour, the versatile artist has also released music collaborations and even his first Japanese EP “Tadaima” in March this year!
Onto the concert, B.I made sure fans got to hear all their favourite songs live as he performed many hits from his repertoire like “Keep Me Up”, “Smoke” (Remix), “COSMOS” and “Daydream”. Throughout the concert, the multicolored BINBONGs made a beautiful rainbow ocean when IDs were clapping, waving or cheering during songs.
Being the King of fanservice, B.I did not disappoint as lucky fans on the first floor got to take many selfies, hi-five and even hug him! From standing on the steps to weaving in and out of the crowd, B.I did his best to get close to every fan as much as he could, also memorably bending down to interact with a young fan.The singer also apologised to fans seated on the upper levels, stating that he did try to find a way to get upstairs but he would need a ladder or rope to get to them, making everyone laugh at his apology.
B.I’s rookie Korean-Australian labelmate Leo also took the stage to perform some of his songs like ”Come Closer” and shared the stage with B.I for “Pretty Plzzz”, a song they collaborated together on.
Towards the end of the concert, B.I was surprised by IDs who thoughtfully prepared a vcr-singalong project for him; IDs sang the song “4 Letters” while he watched the video message on stage. While thanking his fans, B.I mentioned that IDs’ voices were definitely number one.
