Q: Hi AmbiO! Congratulations on your official debut! Please tell us more about your 1st Mini Album, ‘Boys be Ambitious‘!
AmbiO: Our mini-album, ‘Boys be Ambitious,’ delivers a message of challenge, courage, and hope to the youth. It captures our continuous growth as we aim for higher goals and represents the powerful first step of choosing challenge over hesitation. It is an album where our unique individualities and passions come together to form perfect teamwork.
Q: Were there any unexpected or memorable moments while preparing for your debut?
Tetsu: When I heard our finished track after recording, it was such a surreal feeling. Knowing that a song featuring my voice was out there and being released to the world made me feel a bit shy, but at the same time, I was so excited to see how people would react! Jeesoo: The moment we first went to Japan for our pre-debut showcase and the ‘i wish’ music video shoot was an unforgettable experience for me. Everything was a first for us, and because it was filled with so many new experiences, it’s a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. Ruone: It was so difficult to sing and dance at the same time that even with practice, I struggled to get it right. There were moments when I honestly wondered, “Will I really be able to do this?” Kiwon: My most memorable moment was when we all listened to our title track, ‘SHOWTIME,’ together in the practice room for the first time! As soon as it started, the beat was so infectious that we couldn’t help but move along. It felt like the perfect rhythmic and refreshing track for our debut concept, and I remember how hyped we all were, talking about the song non-stop! The song was so good that I also felt a bit of pressure, wondering if we could truly do it justice. Seungsang: It was the moment when Kiwon, our all-rounder, joined the group. I had many concerns about our skill level at the time, but his arrival really helped AmbiO grow and take the next step forward.
Q: If you had to recommend one song from your Mini Album, which would it be, and is it also your personal favorite?
Tetsu: My recommended track is ‘First Love‘. The melody is wonderful and it’s very easy to listen to, so I hope you all give it a try! My personal favorite, however, is ‘Click’. When we perform this song on stage, I truly feel like we are having a joyful connection with our fans. Jeesoo: I really love the song ‘First Love‘. The melody is so addictive and the lyrics are incredibly beautiful. Ruone: I like ‘Click.’ Kiwon: If I had to recommend one song from our mini-album, it would definitely be the title track, ‘SHOWTIME’. I believe it’s the best song to experience our youthful energy and refreshing vibe! As for my personal favorite, it’s my solo track, ‘Kokoro (こころ)’. Seungsang: While it’s not my absolute favorite, I’d like to recommend ‘Runnin’’. It showcases AmbiO’s unique cuteness and has a very addictive melody that will definitely stay stuck in your head.
Q: What do the members enjoy doing in their free time?
Tetsu: When I’m not practicing, I spend a lot of my time looking at clothes or watching anime! Jeesoo: Tetsu often watches anime, while Ruone plays mobile games and watches a lot of soccer. Seungsang enjoys movies and anime, and Kiwon likes to play games and spend time on YouTube. In my personal time, I sometimes play games, but I also read a lot. Ruone: We usually play games, watch anime, or head to the gym. I personally love gaming, but I also really enjoy going out to find great places to eat. Kiwon: For the most part, I think we all just try to catch up on sleep! Otherwise, the guys and I go out to eat good food or head out to do some clothes shopping. Seungsang: We practice together, but sometimes I play games with Ruone, or all of us will get together to watch a movie.
Q: If AmbiO could go on a holiday to Singapore, what are three things the members would enjoy doing? Have you visited Singapore before? If so, do you have any memories or impressions to share?
Tetsu: I really want to see the night view of Marina Bay Sands! I’ve only seen it in videos, but I want to see it for real. I also want to have so much fun at Universal Studios Singapore and spend the whole day shopping on Orchard Road! Jeesoo: I’ve heard the airport in Singapore is one of the best in the world, so I’d love to go there. I’m a big fan of F1 racing, so it would be so cool to visit the Singapore F1 race track. I also really want to try all kinds of different food. Sadly, I’ve never been to Singapore before. Ruone: First, I want to try all the tasty food in Singapore. Next, I want to see the beautiful nature and views. And finally, I really want to meet and hang out with our fans in Singapore. Kiwon: I haven’t been to Singapore yet, but if I ever get to travel there, the first thing I’d do is try Hainanese Chicken Rice! I’ve always loved rice bowl dishes. I also want to go to Merlion Park and take a really great “photo of a lifetime.” Seungsang: Three things aren’t enough! Since I love eating, I definitely want to try Chili Crab, Chicken Rice, and Laksa. I also want to relax at Sentosa beach, go to the only Universal Studios in Southeast Asia, and check out the Night Safari! I’ve never been to Singapore, so I really want to go.
Q: Lastly, do you have a message for the fans cheering you on from Singapore?
Tetsu: We will definitely go there to perform one day, so please look forward to it and wait for us! I can’t wait to meet you all! Jeesoo: Your support gives us incredible strength and brings a deeper meaning to our lives as artists. Thank you so much. Ruone: Thank you for showing us so much love. We will continue to show you how much we can grow, so please keep an eye on us. Kiwon: I’m so grateful for the interest and love from our fans in Singapore! To our fans in Singapore and all our supporters abroad, we will work incredibly hard to bring you happiness and perform for you in person. Please stay tuned! Seungsang: To our fans in Singapore! We are ready to show you our absolute best. Please look forward to what’s coming and continue to support us. We love you!
