Indulging in our small girl fantasies with Youngji at her ALL OR NOTHING Tour in Singapore

One of South Korea’s fastest-rising stars, Lee Youngji, was in town for her concert, LEE YOUNGJI [ALL OR NOTHING] IN SINGAPORE on 19 October 2024 at Capitol Theatre. The talented rapper performed all the songs off her new album “16 Fantasy” as well as many of her collaborative works.

Other than being active in the Korean hip-hop scene, the first female winner of both “High School Rapper 3” and “Show Me The Money 11” also dabbles in variety shows. Youngji’s well-known talk show “No Prepare” has guests ranging from famous K-Pop idols like BLACKPINK’s Jisoo to athletes like Korean footballer Cho Guesung, to international stars like Tyla (known for her worldwide hit “Water”) to Japanese heartthrob Kentaro Sakaguchi who stars in the ongoing drama “What Comes After Love”.

The multi-talented artist was also appointed as a Global Ambassador for American fashion house Coach, making her the first-ever ambassador hailing from Korea, which is a nod to her growing popularity.

Marking her second time here in Singapore, Youngji mentioned it was almost exactly a year to the day she came last year for her 1st ASIA TOUR ‘THE MAIN CHARACTER’ – SINGAPORE. This time, she sang her newer releases like “ADHD”, “My Cat” and “TELL ME!”. She also introduced her recent viral hit “Small Girl” feat EXO D.O. as the “biggest song in her career” which was also the song fans sang for Youngji during the encore of the concert.

Showing a more sombre side of herself, Youngji performed “Unknown Guy”, a track from her “16 Fantasy” album with a telephone booth prop on stage. The song is about her father who left when she was young and the performance was as if it was a conversation. It was hard to forget her teary eyes in that performance.

It is easy to see the young starlet loves being on stage; from her expressions during the sweet performance of “Freesia” with a staff member wearing a Korilakkuma figure head (replacing rapper Layone) to the way she glided and danced her way across the stage during “Day & Night”. Youngji also included crowd-favorites like “Fighting”, “Blue Check” and “Smoke” in her setlist.

One memorable instance during the concert was when introducing her song “Anemone”; Youngji talked about being reminded of the “He loves me, he loves me not” petal plucking challenge after looking at the roses around her. Youngji proceeded to show fans how she could get emotional by borrowing eye drops from the audience for fake tears as well as still attempting to fake-cry during the song by dripping some water on her face with her water bottle but accidentally splashing it on herself instead.

With a promise to visit Singapore again next year, Youngji concluded the concert with a double encore, taking song requests from fans and making the crowd burst out into laughter when she misheard a request and sang “I Need a Girl” by Taeyang instead. Youngji spoiled fans by singing two songs in the end, performing “GO HIGH”, which she also referred to as her “winner song” and “I am Lee Young Ji”.

We look forward to Youngji’s next visit to Singapore and all her future activities in music and variety!
