Singapore MYs On Their First Date With aespa!

Full shot, pull it up, Armageddon! The trailblazing group aespa, SM Entertainment’s new generation K-pop girl group that combines virtual and real worlds, was in town recently for their 2024 aespa LIVE TOUR – SYNK : PARALLEL LINE – in Singapore. The quartet played a sold out show at Singapore Indoor Stadium on 20th July 2024.

Consisting of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning, aespa debuted in 2020 and has accumulated an eye-catching number of accolades, from perfect all-kills on music charts to attending the 2023 Cannes Film Festival as ambassadors for the Swiss jewelry brand Chopard. Last year, the group also released a single in collaboration with Pokémon; “We Go” was the theme song for the Korean edition of Pokémon: Liko and Roy’s Departure.

The group started their second world tour last month in Seoul and will also be traveling to other countries like Australia and China in the near future. MY, which is the official fanclub name for aespa’s fans, have been eagerly waiting the concert here as Singapore was not included in their first world tour.

During their concert, aespa performed many of their hit songs like “Drama”, “Spicy”, “Savage” and “Black Mamba” as well as their newer releases like “Supernova” and “Armageddon”. Singapore MYs did not disappoint, other than vibing and dancing to the music, many were also fervent in their fanchants and armed with their official lightsticks.

aespa also included their solo stages in their setlist, which was definitely a highlight of the concert as we got to see the personal stage of each member. Giselle performed “Dopamine”, a song that she was really glad to be able to show fans as it was a song she made from scratch. The unforgettable performance was sexy and strong, it also included a couch and some floor moves that had fans going crazy. Karina’s solo was “UP”, a hiphop song she participated in making. Donning a bandana and a black glitter outfit, Karina also promised fans that she would bring a lot more cool stages in the future. “Bored!” was NingNing’s solo in which she participated in songwriting and choreography. Her sweet vocals shone in the song and contrary to the song title, no one was left bored! Winter went last, her solo was titled “Spark” was a mesmerizing performance where she was dressed in pink and with her blonde hair, she looked like a princess! During the ment section, Winter mentioned that it was a waste if only she could see MYs, so she wanted to do a camera move where the camera would film from the back of the stage, where both Winter and MYs would be in frame.

At the end of the concert, aespa thanked Singapore for having them. Winter shared that despite it being their first time in Singapore, MYs welcomed them with such great love and support. Whenever they had fansign or video call events, aespa would always say that they really want to come and meet MYs in Singapore. She hoped the fans she made the promise to were there at the concert as she had finally kept her promise.

aespa also also a good laugh while noticing the fan banner event prepared, as they had a bit of difficulty reading them due to the font colour of the banners. They repeated the slogan a few times with fans, agreeing that it was their first day with Singapore MYs. Like on a first date, it could be a little messy, but it was okay as they loved MYs and it was still perfect.

We look forward to aespa’s future releases and hope they will visit our sunny island again soon!
