“MeU”s in Singapore were in for a treat when Amber was in town last weekend to perform at the 21st Asian Television Awards held at the Suntec Convention Centre.

She performed two songs – Popular hit Shake That Brass from her first mini album, ‘Beautiful’ and Borders that was released with SM Station. As the only K-pop act in the lineup, she received considerable attention and mention from both the emcees and the crowd.

Due to time constraints, she was not interviewed or able to make any comment but her enthusiasm and excitement for Singapore can be felt through her tweets:

Amber who is known for staying true to herself amidst the borders in the K-pop industry has proven her popularity and following with the loud screams that came from the crowd. Singapore could sure use some llama energy soon so we hope to see her back again!

Another man who moved the crowd was JJ Lin, award-winning Singaporean-born singer who made a name for himself in Taiwan came back to sing for his home crowd. It was also his debut performance at the 21st Asian Television Awards.

Being the last act on the lineup, he chose to unconventionally sing two ballads that held deep meaning, If Only (可惜沒有如果) and Twilight (不為誰而做的歌). His fan club known as JJFC sure brought their vocal cords out and their screams were supported by the locals who saw him as a familiar face. If you’ve heard the songs on record, the quality of his voice sounded the same live, or even better!

Other notable acts include Charli XCX who sang her hit song Boom Clap, Rossa who serenaded the crowd with Ke Menunggu and Ivy Grace Paredes, former contestant of the X Factor UK who blew the crowd away with her amazing rendition of Chandelier.

The 21st Asian Television Awards concluded last Saturday, 3rd December with a total of 28 awards being given out to celebrate the best of Asian television. Some notable winners are Descendants of the Sun (태양의 후예) that clinched the “Best Drama Series” award and  Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that won themselves the “Best Entertainment (One-Off/Annual)” award.
