16 June 2015 – Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Walking Dead, Hawaii Five-O, American Horror Story, 12 Monkeys are some of the TV shows that will be returning in the Fall of 2015/2016! And with the end of Game of Thrones, I’m pretty sure many of you will be trying to find new ways to fill that void! The only problem is, having to wait like so many more months before these shows return. What a bummer!
So how do you wait out the slow and boring months? Of course you watch some Web Series! I’m going to recommend some of the better ones (3 of them actually) out there that are available on YouTube because, shucks, some sites (and players) are just not available in our region. BOOHOO!
Starting off on our list at numero tres (number 3)!
Space Riders: Division Earth (though not available in our region but if you know how to get past those restrictions. This is an awesome show)
Written and performed by the same people you see in the clip above, Dan Bierne and Mark Little, Space Riders: Division Earth is a spoof version of your Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.
The less cooler, good-looking and nerdier, 2 dudes suit up much (or less, however you see it) like the Power Rangers and try to stop villains from their devious plans and world domination.
The catch? To zoid-up (Morph/suit up), they have to get naked first. YIKES! Their outfits are ridiculous too but it’s really all for fun!
Follow them on Facebook for more silliness!
Numero dos (number 2):
Bravest Warriors:
This American web series is well into its second season (including Minisodes) with a third season coming up on 24th June. Many who first watched this series would find the similarity to Adventure Time. Well, that’s because it’s by the creator of Adventure Time!
The way the characters are drawn are also similar to Adventure Time. Fans of AT will definitely enjoy this show as well.
Head over to CartoonHangover or catch the entire first season here.
Now we’re down to numero UNO! (number one) on our list!
Carmilla!
I’m probably the most excited about this show and its direction because it’s fairly rare you get a web series that is mostly female-centric.
Based [rather loosely] off a novella from 1871 by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu and set in modern day at a fictional Silas University, where only strange things (and it only gets stranger) happen. The series is told from the perspective of Laura (Elise Bauman), a freshman student who is taking things into her own hands to investigate the disappearance of her roommate (in a vlog format might I add), when she is assigned a mysterious new roommate named Carmilla (Natasha Negovanlis) (then things get steamy from here on out).
Note:
Not for the faint-hearted as there are same-sex relationships and what-not.
With a cult following for this Canadian web series (just go to tumblr and search Carmilla and you’ll get what I mean), I wouldn’t be surprised that they might actually bag their first ever Streamy Award this year!
Note:
Streamy Awards is an event that honors the best of Online Videos, the creators and actors behind them.
That aside, Carmilla is now in their second season with episodes uploaded onto VervegirlTV every Wednesday and Friday (our time).
Catch Season 1 here and Season 2 here!
And so, I hope that with these recommendations, you guys might actually find it easier to while away your time waiting for your prime time TV shows to return in the last quarter of the year! Ciao~
