SuperM – Dubbed as “the Avengers of K-pop”, the group comprising of members from SHINee, EXO, NCT 127, and WayV from SM Entertainment attracted loads of attention even before their debut. Fans from the respective fandom were going at each other due to the creation of this super group, and of course every fandom would want the best for their members.
SuperM felt like SM Entertainment’s answer to break the American market through its collaboration with Capitol Music Group, in bid of its continued globalization of K-pop. (Capitol Music Group has also signed NCT 127 in April 2019.) The group is made up of Taemin of SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai of EXO, Taeyong and Mark of NCT 127, plus Ten and Lucas of the Chinese-pop band WayV.
“We Are the Future” live series
Following the group’s “debut” with their EP, they have also announced a series of shows to tour North America in November and February.
November 11- Fort Worth, TX, Dickies Arena
November 13 – Chicago, IL, United Center
November 15 – Atlanta, GA, Infinite Energy Arena
November 17 – Washington, DC, EagleBank Arena
November 19 – New York, NY, Madison Square Garden
January 30 – San Diego, CA, Viejas Arena
February 1 – Los Angeles, CA, The Forum
February 2 – San Jose, CA, SAP Center
February 4 – Seattle, WA, ShoWare Center
February 6 – Vancouver, BC, Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena
At this time, the group has already almost completed their November tour of the United States, with New York to come. Albeit encountering some hiccups in their opening show in Fort Worth, the group has came back strong and impressed. Below a video we found on YouTube taken by a fan of the Chicago show.
Korean Air X SuperM “Let’s Go Everywhere”
The group made further headlines with their collaboration with Korea’s national carrier Korean Air. Yes, it’s the same airline with the nuts saga, but how often do you see your idols imprinted on an aircraft? The ones we often remember are like EVA Air’s Sanrio collaboration, ANA’s Star Wars aircraft, and now we have Korean Air’s very own SuperM aircraft. As part of this collaboration, you will get to see the cool inflight safety video featuring the group, narrated by SM Entertainment’s diva BoA. If this do not make you pay more attention to safety briefings, we don’t know what will.
In addition to the safety video, a full music video was launched recently as well.
With this landmark collaboration, we are expecting SuperM to literally be going places, if not everywhere like the tagline “Let’s Go Everywhere”. Below is another video showcasing the making of the Korean Air Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with the SuperM livery, so watch out for sightings of the plane, and if you are lucky enough to be on-board, perhaps there may be exclusive gifts as part of this collaboration – such as SuperM postcards.
Hopefully in the near future, we’ll get to see SuperM endorsing a luxury car brand, so the line “vroom, like a black car” from Super Car can really come to life, though we already had a sneak peek in Jopping MV where the members took their rides for a spin down the deserts and highways in Dubai.
