There will always be the occasions where heading out of home is not an option. Be it due to being quarantined (for whatever reasons), or the annual “gift” of haze in Singapore from our neighbours. Perhaps it is just one of those rainy or gloomy days where you just do not feel like heading out of home.
We’ve put together some ideas for you to battle the boredom of staying home, fit for the hip K-Pop fans and followers.
Engage in virtual “gatherings” through PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds)
If you haven’t heard about PUBG, you better go get it downloaded like NOW! In Korea, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) extremely popular, played solo, with friends or in couples at home, all Koreans enjoy the game. The same goes for Korean idols! If you have been failing to meet your idols on the streets, you may well encounter some of them in the battlegrounds of PUBG at the comfort of home.
To explain the game in one sentence: be the last one to survive.
The game was developed and published by a Korean firm. The game is available online with PC, Xbox, and phone. However, be aware that the game includes violence and blood and is not suitable for all the audience. It is well known that EXO‘s Baekhyun plays the game.
Apart from Baekhyun, many other idols and non-idols are very much addicted to the game like VIXX’s Ken, B1A4’s Gongchan, Kang Daniel, actor Nam Joo Hyuk, and trot singer Hong Jin Young to name a few. You should try it out yourself, to see why PUBG is keeping idols at home.
Catch up on the hottest K-Drama (or other) and movies
This is probably a no-brainer, since what other best timing to be catching up on those drama right? Korea is like a drama factory with hit drama being produced by every one of those major broadcasters, and in recent times tvN and Netflix joining the fray, fans are spoiled for choice.
If you are like me (extremely backdated) then maybe IU’s hit drama last year Hotel Del Luna will be an obvious choice. How about the most recent Crash Landing On You by veterans Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin? The chemistry from the pair is impeccable, and it is no wonder there are already dating rumours. If you are looking for a change, how about some hit Chinese drama to expand your conversational topics like Eternal Love of Dream (三生三世枕上书)?
If drama takes up too much time, how about an award winning movie like Parasite? The movie is making the next wave, and even cinemas in Singapore are showing it for a second time since release in 2019. The movie won multiple awards at Korea’s very own Blue Dragon Film Awards last year, and won Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards.
Catch up on the hottest variety
Continuing on from the above, a good laugh never fails and the myriad of Korean variety will ensure time flies past without you even noticing. Catching the weekly idol performances at the various Music Chart shows like Music Bank, Music Core, Inkigayo, M Countdown will set your heart thumping to the rhythm. Catching up on Running Man episodes and the antics of Lee Kwang Soo will definitely crack you up.
All these are easily covered by our friends over at VIU, since it’s easy for you to retrieve the content through the app or website.
