Annyeonghaseyo! In a city that can’t get enough of Korea’s exciting food and pop culture, the highly anticipated Seorae Galmaegi finally lands in Singapore at Plaza Singapura, opening on 24 December 2015. Seorae Singapore brings for the first time, the signature galmaegisal to our shores.
Founded in 2007, Seorae Galmaegi, Korea’s charcoal barbecue concept restaurant that has a presence in major cities such as Seoul, Busan, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Jakarta, Bandung and others, brings its global franchise count to an impressive 264 restaurants in just seven years, with the launch of its inaugural Singapore outlet.
“In a market that is saturated with Korean barbecue restaurants, we pride ourselves by staying true to our Back to the basic philosophy; ensuring that we keep things simple yet provide the best quality ingredients and produce, while maintaining the art of Korean barbecue and ‘circle grilling’, so as to provide a unique and authentic dining experience for our patrons,” says Chef Chul Park, Founder of Seorae Galmaegi.
KOREAN GALMAEGISAL, PREMIUM PORK SKIRT
For the first time in Singapore, island dwellers will get to enjoy the signature Korean galmaegisal, which is also known as pork skirt meat. Galmaegisal is found between the ribs and the belly of the pig and is a unique cut that forms only 250 grams of every full-grown pig. Said to have been served exclusively to the Royal Family of Korea in ancient times, Seorae Singapore now offers this kingly dining experience to all.
Wilyawati Tjiu, Managing Director of Seorae Singapore says, “We recognise the sophistication of the Singaporean palette alongside the desire for new and one-of-a-kind dining experiences, hence we’re excited to introduce the exclusive galmaegisal to this melting pot of cultures, which is never a step behind about the happenings of modern-day cosmopolitan, cool and popular K-town.”
Using Seorae’s special ‘circle grilling’ technique, the galmaegisal, marinated in a delicious blend of Korean spices, is grilled to perfection; full of rich flavours, tender and juicy, the taste of galmaegisal resembles that of wagyu beef. Amp up the flavour of the galmaegisal using the well-known Korean dipping style into onion and spicy sauces, accompanied with silky folds of egg and fragrant garlic. To bring diners on an even more exciting culinary adventure, Seorae Singapore offers melted cheese on the grill as well, combining mouth-watering textures and creamy cheese into a burst of flavour on the taste buds.
Keeping true to the bona fide Seorae Galmaegi dining experience offered in Korea, besides offering galmaegisal, Seorae Singapore will also provide a wide selection of premium pork and beef cuts, traditional jigae (Korean stews), refreshing cold noodles and the ever-popular patbingsoo (shaved-ice dessert) in numerous flavours, including Gangnam Patbingsoo (popcorn and caramel) and Sinsa Patbingsoo (honeydew), among other delectable Korean dishes.
Your quintessential Korean barbecue dining experience can now be enjoyed in the heart of town at Plaza Singapura. Decked out in retro interiors inspired by the bustling streets of Seoul from the ‘70s, guests can expect to huddle around the grill and relish in authentic Korean vibes, brimming with conviviality and glowing smoke, all while enjoying tantalising, smoky premium meat cuts.
To celebrate the opening of Seorae Singapore, with every S$80 spent, diners will receive a dining voucher worth S$38, for a limited period only. Seorae Singapore will open its doors to the public on 28 December 2015. Call +65 6238 8429 for reservations or log on to www.seorae.com.sg for more information.
