SINGAPORE – The Korean Film Festival 2014 would be held at Shaw Theatres Lido from 29 October to 2 November. The festival would feature 5 Korean films surrounding the theme “Family”.

Among the line-up for the festival includes record-breaking film Roaring Currents. During its run in Korea earlier this year, Roaring Currents had achieved spectacular results, becoming the highest grossing Korean film in Korea. It had more than 10 million viewers mark within 10 days of its premiere, becoming the Korean film which reached 10 million admissions in the shortest amount of time. It also surpassed the results of Hollywood blockbuster Avatar in terms of the number of admissions in Korea.

Roaring Currents is a film about the Battle of Myeongnyang, where Joseon admiral Yi Sun-sin led the 12 ships under his command to victory in a seemingly hopeless war against a fleet of 330 invading Japanese vessels. Roaring Currents is directed and co-written by Kim Han-min and stars Choi Min-sik and Ryu Seung-ryong.

In addition to Roaring Currents, the film festival also showcases a selection of other box office hits, including Punch (starring Yoo Ah-In, Kim Yun-seok), Boomerang Family (starring Park Hae-il, Yoon Jae-moon, Kong Hyo-Jin) and Miss Granny (starring Shim Eun-Kyung, Na Moon-Hee, Jung Jinyoung (B1A4)). The festival would kick off with the opening film, Thread of Lies, starring Kim Hee-Ae, Ko Asung, Kim Hyang-Gi and Yoo Ah-In.
