Happy new year! Since it’s officially 2016, let’s talk about the Pantone colours of this year.

Firstly, what is a pantone colour? Pantone is a corporation that is known for its proprietary colour space (colour organization). It is used in a variety of industries that works with colours. A pantone number or name is unique and serves as useful tool for people (especially designers) to communicate colours they want.

Each year Pantone would select a symbolic colour of the year to represent our current culture. This colours also reflects the mood and attitude of our society in the year.

In 2016, there are two Pantone colours:

Pantone 2016
Rose Quartz (Pantone 13-520) – Soft and warm rose pink
Serenity (Pantone 15-3919) – Cool and soothing soft blue

Sephora has also released a Sephora + Pantone palette and lipsticks, and if you are interested you can find them here: http://www.sephora.com/sephora-pantone-universe

Personally I find the VDL palette colours seem to be one that I can use daily as compared to the “watercolor”-like colours on Sephora’s palette. What do you think?
