In Perfect Harmony: P1Harmony Delights at First-Ever Singapore Concert

Rising boy group P1Harmony commanded the stage at their first-ever concert in Singapore on 17 September 2023, giving a small but wildly enthusiastic crowd of about 1,000 fans (also known as P1eces) at The Theatre at Mediacorp a night to remember.

The group aptly kicked off the show to deafening cheers with ‘Look At Me Now’, an upbeat number about boldly pursuing your dreams. All eyes were on the six handsome young idols from the moment they appeared on stage, clad in navy blue military-inspired outfits, as they pulled off high-octane dance moves alongside impressively stable vocals.

With one adrenaline-filled track after another, such as ‘Jump’, ‘Do It Like This’, and ‘Scared’, the boys soon had P1eces on their feet – where they mostly remained for the rest of the 2.5-hour set.

Each member had the opportunity to showcase his individual talents and versatile charms through solo and unit stages. First up was Theo, who riveted fans with his velvety rendition of DEAN’s ‘21’. Soul was next with his heartfelt interpretation of Joonil Jung’s ‘Hug Me’, followed by leader Keeho’s sleek version of Beyonce’s ‘Déjà Vu’. He was then joined on stage by Soul and Jiung, and the trio revved up the energy with their electrifying performance of Michael Jackson’s ‘Love Never Felt So Good’. Turning up the heat at the end were Intak and maknae Jongseob with their fiery original rap number ‘Bow Wow’, which saw both members face off against each other in a semi-rap battle.

The intimate venue worked well to the group’s advantage as they bantered comfortably with P1eces and one another. Their endearing use of familiar Singlish terms – such as saying “I love you, lah” and describing their chilli crab experience as “shiok” – drew affectionate laughter from the audience.

Soul also revealed that he had visited Singapore when he was younger, a trip that took him to popular tourist spots like Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore, and Gardens by the Bay. (He even posted photos on P1Harmony’s Instagram to back it up!)

At one point, Keeho (whose birthday is in September) delighted the crowd when he invited the other September babies in the crowd to celebrate their birthdays together. After joking that he needed to verify the audience’s IDs, he got the members to sing him a birthday song with a freestyle rap segment in between.

But the group’s love for, and trust in P1eces was most evident during the encore segment, where they thrilled the crowd by suddenly going down stage to greet them. They got even more up close and personal as they performed ‘Swagger’, taking time to snap wefies and complete finger hearts with excited fans lining the aisles.

As the concert came to an end, Keeho promised fans that the group would be back – and hopefully at a larger venue next time. It was hard not to fall for the boys, with their impeccable stage presence and infectious energy. In fact, this writer emerged from the concert with a newfound bias (Jongseob, I’m looking at you).

Singapore P1eces miss you already, lah. We hope P1Harmony comes back soon!
