Make Your Tour Mate (MYTM): “Seoul is a spot where the history of the past and trend of modern Korea coexists”
14 June 2017, Seoul – In recent years, South Korea has been at the heart of global focus. The wealth of culture absorbed the world like a whirlpool that appeared out of nowhere. Young South Koreans stepped up to show that they are ready to take on the world, and Make Your Tour Mate (MYTM) provided these young Koreans a platform to meet new friends from around the world. At the same time, these travellers from around the world benefits from having a taste of the real Korea.
KAvenyou is glad to collaborate with MYTM (http://tourmatekorea.kr/) to bring some of these stories and experiences to our readers, and of course nothing beats experiencing it by yourself when you have the chance to visit the mecca of Korean Pop culture.
Woojin is a travel host at MYTM, and he shares his experience bringing his tourmate – Jen from Singapore through time experiencing the historic culture and modern trends.
Understand Avenue
The group visited the Understand Avenue, a hangout for the young and young at heart; as well as an educational one that helps expand your creativity. The containers look pretty much like those at Common ground at first, but you will be overwhelmed by the content when you visit.
Gwangjang Market
Woojin wanted to showcase the warmth of Koreans, and obviously there was no better place then visiting the famous Gwangjang Market, for Jen to bond with the locals over food. Woojin imparted the most important phrase to use when ordering food – “이모 많이 주세요” (“Auntie, please give give me lots”), and Jen used it immediately.
Deoksugung
This palace has the most beautiful winter scenery compared to the many other palaces in Korea, and Jen was of the opinion that history and culture was the most valuable to the Koreans.
