YOUNG & FABULOUS 最佳伙扮 aims to inspire individuals to pursue their dreams against all odds. The film encompasses elements of the youths’ everyday jargon, lifestyle, and aspirations, and also covers the interesting issues in different relationships that can engage people of all ages everywhere.

Produced at a budget of S$1.5 million, YOUNG & FABULOUS is Singapore’s first cosplay film, and its portrayal of cosplay pioneers the local film industry. This film is inspired by the stories of actual cosplayers, students, teachers, and parents in Singapore. The idea of incorporating cosplay as a theme in YOUNG & FABULOUS is novel not only in Singapore, but also on an international level. During the film’s pre-production phase, various surveys were conducted with Singaporeans of all ages and from all walks of life to find out their hopes and dreams as well as uncover the challenges that they face day-to-day, be it at school, work, or at home, on our little island. The film is produced by Encore Films Pte Ltd in collaboration with Golden Village Pictures Pte Ltd, with the support of Singapore Film Commission in partnership with SIMF Management.

YOUNG & FABULOUS features vibrant, elaborate costumes handcrafted by talented Singaporean cosplayers, and also incorporates a multitude of special effects to accentuate its action scenes and comedic moments. The film is directed by both veteran director Michael Woo 胡鹤译and producer Joyce Lee 李慧娴, with a screenplay written by award-winning Singaporean scriptwriter Rebecca Leow 洪汐 (THE DREAM MAKERS志在四方I & II, I NOT STUPID TOO小孩不笨 2). The film also features Taiwanese composer JerryC 张逸帆, who composed the hit theme song A Little Happiness 小幸運for the high-grossing film OUR TIMES 我的少女时代, in his pioneer effort at original scoring. YOUNG & FABULOUS marks the acting debut of popular Internet sensation and up-and-coming singer Joyce Chu 四叶草. She will also be lending her voice to the theme song 3 2 1 GO!, written by Namewee 黃明志 specially for the film.

On January 28, the film’s teaser trailer was launched in Singapore cinemas and on various online platforms to much favourable response and rising anticipation. In just one week, the teaser trailer has garnered over 250,000 views online and over a thousand likes and shares in Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The film stars veteran comedians Gurmit Singh 葛米星 and Henry Thia 程旭辉, veteran host and actress Quan Yi Fong 权怡凤, rising young talents Aloysius Pang 冯伟衷, Joshua Tan 陈伟恩, Joyce Chu 四叶草, Jeffrey Xu 徐鸣杰, Benjamin Kheng 金文明 of hit local band The Sam Willows, and newcomer child actor Jordan Ng 黄俊铨.

The film will be released in Singapore on 26 May 2016, followed by other countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
