She asked him to call her Josée.
From the day he first met her, he would never forget that name.
Korean romance-drama film “Josée”, starring Han Ji Min and Nam Joo Hyuk, will be released in both Singapore and Korea on the same day, 10 December 2020.
The movie is the Korean adaptation of 2003 Japanese romance film “Josee, the Tiger and the Fish”, which is based on a Japanese short story of the same name.
Having worked together previously for the 2019 drama “Radiant”, there is much anticipation to catch the duo’s reunion on-screen. Even the movie’s OST is something to look forward to, as IU and Crush have been confirmed to be participating in it, with IU’s ‘Lullaby’ being chosen as the closing credit OST.
Synopsis
In a house where she lives with her grandmother, Josée (Han Ji Min) reads books, dreams, and lives in a world of her own. After meeting her by chance, Young-seok (Nam Joo Hyuk) starts to feel something special for her, and they slowly draw closer. But Josée’s first taste of love brings both pleasure and pain, and she pushes away the unfamiliar emotions that crowd in on her.
I’ll remember all of these moments with you.

Review
We attended the preview screening of the movie, and compared to its Japanese counterpart, the movie plot is somewhat similar but still different from the original adaptation. The film is much more slow-paced compared to typical Korean movies, so it may not be most people’s cup of tea. However, this allows for the portrayal of the beautiful and in-depth cinematography, as well as close-up shots of the lead characters with their mild emotions. The ending itself is quite ambiguous too, leaving the audience to interpret how the storyline unfolded till the very last scene and what happened during the lapse in between.
