Eight years after his Act III: M.O.T.T.E tour, G-Dragon returned to Paris for a major comeback at La Défense Arena, one of Europe’s biggest indoor venues. On September 20th, at the same venue where he previously performed as a part of the charity concert “Le Gala des Pièces Jaunes”, he delivered a show that revealed a new side of himself.

He opened with a bold statement: he’s got the power. The power to command a stage alone—backed by dancers—for more than two and a half hours. The show never lost its energy.

His only pauses came during a few VCR interludes, used to explain the meaning behind the tour title: Übermensch. Inspired by Nietzsche, the concept reflects his growth as an artist and public figure—merging identities, confronting past challenges, and presenting a renewed, more mature version of himself.

The setlist then moved into Home Sweet Home, featuring Taeyang and Daesung of Big Bang, who appeared onscreen. The track turned into a rock-like performance thanks to the live musicians.

That flexibility is one of G-Dragon’s strengths. Throughout the concert, he reshaped songs to fit the emotions he wanted to express. He performed 16 years of solo work—from fan favorites like Heartbreaker, One of a Kind, Crayon, Crooked, and Untitled—while keeping everything tied to the Übermensch concept.

He also threw in surprises. A mashup of Too Bad and Lady Marmalade showed off both his musical instincts and his dancing. His cover of Can’t Help Falling in Love became a highlight, as fans sang every lyric back to him. Together with Drama, it was one of the night’s most emotional moments.

Stage production was another star of the evening. From glowing trees filled with butterflies during Butterfly, to the retro TV-show vibe of Too Bad, every detail felt deliberate.

And of course, there were the outfits. As a Chanel ambassador, he showcased jackets and hats echoing the brand’s most iconic styles. Fans even speculated his blue hair paid tribute to the perfume Bleu de Chanel.

Before the encore, a final VCR played like an intimate interview. G-Dragon spoke about struggles in his life, even describing himself as a “frog in the well.” More importantly, he shared how he took time to rediscover himself, ending with a simple confession: “I am happy.” That happiness spilled into the arena, where fans celebrated with him until the last notes of the credits faded.
