If you have attended EXO-SC’s recent Fancon in Singapore, the one thing you would definitely remember is Chanyeol’s obsession with Singapore’s very own Chilli Crab dish.
EXO-SC (subunit of EXO, made up of Chanyeol and Sehun), was in town for their ‘Back To Back’ Fancon’ to the excitement of many EXO-Ls here. It was the duo’s first time in Singapore after four years and Chanyeol wasted no time at all in indulging in his favourite Singaporean dish the moment they arrived. They arrived one day before the Fancon and the emcee shared during the Press Conference that they already had it twice! As quoted directly from Chanyeol, “I really love Chilli Crab, so I will have Chili Crab for all three meals.” When Sehun asked for food recommendations other than Chilli Crab, Chanyeol interjected with his own recommendation “Chilli Crab, Pepper Crab, any crabs!”
During the Press Conference, Chanyeol, a huge superhero fan who famously wore an Iron Man suit for SM Town’s 2017 Halloween Party also shared that if he had to choose to be a superhero, he would say that the character that fits him well would be Starlord from the Guardians of the Galaxy films in Marvel franchise. When asked to choose a superhero that fits Sehun, he chose Groot, and even got a perplexed Sehun to imitate his iconic line, “I am Groot”.
Sehun, who is the male lead in drama ‘All That We Loved’ that just started airing this month, was asked if like his character in the drama, would he donate his kidney to his best friend? After Sehun replied that he probably would do it for his closest friend, Chanyeol cheerfully pointed to himself making everyone in the room burst out in laughter.
Onwards to the Fancon, we definitely enjoyed the charismatic stages they brought that day. They performed many of their hit songs including ‘What a life’, ‘1 Billion Views’, ‘Rodeo Station’ and ended off with an encore stage of ‘Just us 2’.
They also shared personal pictures from their phone, giving fans a peek on what happens in their day to day life. Sehun shared a picture of himself when he went snowboarding with his friends last winter and an exclusive behind the scenes picture he snapped during the VCR Shoot for EXO’s recent fan meeting. Chanyeol shared two pictures too, a picture in the practice room while they were preparing for EXO’s recent fan meeting and you guessed it, a picture of them having Chilli Crab the day before.
There were also game segments which Sehun won overall and he tried pandan cake as a reward. Chanyeol also took a bite and they both agreed it was delicious! Chanyeol’s forfeit was getting stickers pasted on his face, the emcee had to step in to stop Sehun from pasting all the stickers available to the laughter of the fans watching.
They also fulfilled lucky fans’ wishes; the highlight definitely was the Random Play Dance segment where Sehun performed EXO’s hits ‘Loveshot’ and ‘Growl’. Chanyeol and Sehun also did a bonus song together; a sexier song, ‘The Eve’, to the deafening cheers that definitely brought the house down.
When asked about future projects, they mentioned that EXO’s new album is in the works and all EXO members have somewhat participated in this album so they hope fans will look forward to it.
With Chanyeol and Sehun promising to return with the other EXO members next time, we will look forward to meeting them again in our sunny Singapore!
